I love that band and I love Vaz. It always puzzles me why they weren't / aren't bigger, on an underground level of course. Great rockdudes, great songs / sounds.

Not crap. Into the Vortex is as close as they got to a classic.

Also the bass on "Meandrethal" - flippin' 'eck!!

I've been listening to Into the Vortex, which someone posted on the sendspace thread years ago, quite a bit these last couple of days. Not crap!

Not crap. They mixed being humorous and punishing very well. A bunch of geeks from the middle of nowhere riding gloriously off to noise valhalla.

Minor, minor waffle. The lyrics all should've been cryptic, personal -- the stabs at politics made me wince a little bit, before I started rocking the fuck out again.

Saw them last night. Decidedly not crap, and still completely relevant.

I'm coming up for the amrep 25 show and I'm hoping to hear some stuff off Ethereal Killer. I love everything they put out, but EK is such a classic to me. Did they play a little bit of everything when you saw them?

They are mostly playing stuff from Into the Vortex and on, not to bum you out but when I saw them they mostly avoided Ethereal Killer, much to my regret, though they were probably better live then I remember them being.

I'm just happy to get to see them, even if I don't get to hear Tuffskins. I read somewhere they may have some CD-R's of new material available at the show.

It's a Melvins split w Hammerhead. I don't know if the Melvins side is unreleased, but the Hammerhead side is. Apparently it's only for sale at this post retardist bash thing in LA and a NYC show.

After having some Vaz on the office computer for a while, I finally managed to remember to bring in some Hammerhead.

I was listening to it on Thursday, and more than one student asked me how I could manage to stay cheerful whilst listening to such angry music.

I never thought of Hammerhead (or much of what I listen to at work) as "angry."
I make this music.
I also make pictures that you can buy. Feel free to look at my records for sale.

I've never thought of Hammerhead as "angry" either. Have your students ever listened to Damaged? That's sort of what I think of as angry music.

My students range in age from 18 to 21 and are mostly disinterested girls from Long Island.
