Mick Farren's version of "Play with Fire" kicks the shit out of the Dickies version of "Communication Breakdown". Fuck the Dickies.

God, this hurts, but I have to go with Zeppelin. Sentimental reasons only.

Stones>Zepplin. Take the 8 best Stones albums toe to toe with all 8 Zepplin albums and we've got a royal rumble.

The D&D/Lord of the Rings stuff kills it for me. I'm trying to imagine Zepplin if they had got Rod Stewart to sing for them like they wanted...

As I am a drummer, I will admit that I would take Bonzo over Charlie most days of the week.

Try to imagine Stewart doing the beginning of "Nobodies Fault But Mine". No, I can't either. Part of LZ's charm is Plant's over-the-top singing. They were a Dionysian outfit and I don't think Rod Stewart would be up the (vocal) task. Plus, Plant would never do a "Great American Songbook" move. Fuck "Rod the Mod".

Oh, Zeppelin by the way. When I was 10 the only shirts I owned were of the rainbow glitter zeppelin or Swan Song variety. Never owned Stones stuff. Not even a belt buckle.

I voted Stones, and immediately regretted it.

This is turning out to be another very close thunderdome, just as I planned it.

I've been listening to The Song Remains the Same, and I have to say that the title track live version absolutely blows minds nationwide. Page's guitar sound on that entire live album just destroys. It melts faces more quickly than does the opening of the Ark of the Covenant in the closing scene of the filmic masterpiece Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I really hope your writing on Shakespeare reads better than this.

I have to go with the Stones, because they did things like Ruby Tuesday, As Tears Go By, and She's A Rainbow, and I know of no equivalent tunes in the Zep catalog

Both are bands I hear enough on the radio to not need to buy any records from.

However, I own two Led Zeppelin records and three Stones records. So I'm voting Stones.
I make this music.
I also make pictures that you can buy. Feel free to look at my records for sale.

This is a close call indeed.

I pick Zeppelin because I am using Burun's Record owning practice.
I own 4 Stones records and 7 Zeppelin records.

Stones by a mile, and I don't really like them that much. I could easily cull at least a great double-record from the Stones' discography, but I don't think I could fill an LP side with Zeppelin songs I'd voluntarily listen to.

Seriously, "Stupid Girl," "Under My Thumb," "Street Fighting Man," "Citadel," "Play With Fire," "Gimme Shelter," "Sympathy for the Devil," "Dead Flowers," hell, I won't keep going. I'd take any of these songs over the entire LZ catalog.

Yes. As I've said maybe 1,000 times before on this forum, I have no tolerance for this subject matter.

This. If Nerbly isnt a fucking great fictional forum troll like I suspect, then I really, really want to meet his parents.

And when I say "meet," of course I mean "punch in the face." And then hug. And cry a little.
