I heard this one is quite approachable. The last album never really grew on me, though when I saw them live those songs were excellent. They change with every album, which is to be applauded.

Looking forward to it!

I've been into this band lately...

I'm curious about the films on Drums Not Dead... I don't buy CDs often, but i'm almost convinced to buy this one with the films as the tipping point.

I like this band... buuut sometimes they make me play "name that tune"

(that recent promo single, for example, has an outro that is almost the exact cadence from "Unbelievable" by EMF... not comdemning, just sayin'...)

I dig them quite a bit. I believe the vinyl of drum's not dead comes with the DVD as well, so buy it new.

One of my faves, Liars.

The new one is really very disappointing.

RANK!

1. Fins to Make Us Fishlike ep
2. They Were Wrong So We Drowned
3. Drums Not Dead
4. They Threw Us all In a Trench and Stuck a Monument On Top

Have heard like, 30 seconds of the new one, can't really comment.

Later on today I'll upload the Fins... EP. If you haven't heard it and like any of their albums at all, you'll love the EP even more.

I didn't like the Fins EP all that much. It's okay, but it isn't nearly as good as They Threw Us All In A Trench and stuck a pretentious album title on top. They Were Wrong is inconsistent, but often great - a true transition album.

However, I have not heard Drum's Not Dead, so my ratings are probably to be taken with a grain of salt.

I dunno, I don't think their titles are all that pretentious.

Drum's Not Dead is alright, is really only made great because of the accompanying DVD. Seriously, buy it and watch Julian's video. Spectacular.

Yeah a lot of people are way into Trench, which is cool, I think I just listened to it too much. I like the more sparse, rhythmic stuff they do. Though they do a good job bringing the rock when they feel like it.

This is from a bulletin the Liars put up on myspace:

Recorded on the heels of 2006's 'Drum's Not Dead' somewhere between LA and Berlin, Liars' 4th album marks another bold transition for Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross.

For the new album Liars have foregone theory for a more practical approach, one based on traditional song structures and instrument usage.

"I'd never felt like a songwriter 'til this album," explains Angus. "If you told me last year Liars would release a record like this, I would have laughed.
If you said I'd be playing guitar solos, I'd have called you a liar. We never know what we're making 'til it's made… this time I'm a bit shocked."

Doesn't seem like its something I'm going to be into.

Also, have you guys heard Oneida's cover of Every Day is a Child With Teeth? GREAT
