obits sound great, night marchers not so much. but i was always more into jehu/snakes than rocket/sultans. audit is getting a bad rap, it's a great record but it takes a while to sink in.

I saw Obits in Philly a little while back - they had some really good moments. I wanted them to be as intense as Hot Snakes, Drive Like Jehu, or even Pitchfork. They're not.

Froberg and Reis obviously remain good pals. I mean the little summer joint westcoast tour ("Bummer in the Summer") was essentially the Night Marchers offering up all their touring infrastructure to (Brooklyn-based) Obits, with Night Marchers in the opening slot on their own turf. Very cool.

Overall, they were the best Reis/Froberg band. I adore Jehu and like Pitchfork but those Hot Snakes albums seem to improve with age.
