I'm digging the Eric Johnson Strat so much that I traded for another one.

Picked this up recently- left Strat which I converted to a righty (I play righty) a la Caspar B. Added two more springs to the trem and had to fix the intonation but she ah-plays.....ah-so nice!

I believe what someone said that they look like they were built in prison, by a master luthier. That is actually a pretty decent description. They're all very hand made. No two are alike but every one that I have played has been awesome.

I totally like how they look but get it if you don't. Carvin made steel guitars starting in the 40' and was a Fender dealer until the mid 50's when they came up with this wacky design of their own. They're pretty much the best sounding guitars in the world.

My older brother had a Carvin back in the '70s. Dual pickup, LP Jr style with a Bigsby. Very nice sounding P90-type pickups, tons of sustain and it weighed a friggin' ton.

Here's mine, in no particular order (click to enlarge):

The 12-string Ric has since been modified to 6-string use (old photo).

No, it's a special run that came out of the factory with the serial number sanded off.

Yeah, they just didn't take the time to finish the guitar. I dunno why. Maybe they wanted the robbers, huh I mean customers, to be happy.

That was the ugliest guitar in the showroom when I found it. 2002 Gibson budget reissue with the thinnest coat of black primer and not much else. The neck is insanely fat for some reason. Needless to say, I loved it right away.

I added the pickguard and Bigsby just to make it more fancy.

Looks like Gibson has brought out something similar to what I got, this time with a pickguard and wraparound bridge - with a "non-Melody Maker" headstock:

I can't believe that you sold the LPB Jazzmaster. How many of these do you still have?

How does the lefty-strung-to-righty Strat play? Always curious about how that would feel.

I like it.....the reversed bridge pickup angle gives it a different sound. Other than that it plays like any other Strat. Oh, and I think it looks pretty damn cool to play....hah.

This particular one is a Mexicaster.....pretty good quality but as expected the nut was cheap (why do even the best guitars have cheap nuts? WTF?) causing the high E to break, bad intonation and catching strings, so I replaced it with a graphite one. No breakage, no catching, and much improved intonation.
