I believe what someone said that they look like they were built in prison, by a master luthier. That is actually a pretty decent description. They're all very hand made. No two are alike but every one that I have played has been awesome.
I totally like how they look but get it if you don't. Carvin made steel guitars starting in the 40' and was a Fender dealer until the mid 50's when they came up with this wacky design of their own. They're pretty much the best sounding guitars in the world.
