I'm not as much a fan as I was as a teenager, but Reznor knows how to write a well constructed, if a little barren, pop song. Not crap. Double not crap for not getting worse after twenty years.

Not crap, serious waffles. NIN's best stuff is great, but the albums are uneven.

He did, however, do a record with Saul Williams. Reznor producer, Williams sang and rapped. That album is really excellent, and I think is a good demonstration of Reznor's musical abilities without the baggage that comes with NIN's lesser work. That confirms the NC vote for me.

Anecdote: Every time my father, an abstract painter by trade, hears mention of Nine Inch Nails, he points out that their logo is incredibly well designed. I do not think he could name a Nine Inch Nails song, nor does he generally know Reznor from Adam, but he has great admiration for their logo.

Not crap but insane waffle factors.

He's not crap for being a very good producer who knows how to make things sound good despite most of it being electronics and synths. He is also a good arranger; "A Warm Place" is a fantastically arranged instrumental piece on A Downward Spiral. He also has some really great sounding instrumental remixes of Spiral tracks on those Further Down The Spiral remix compilations done by him and then-members of the NIN line-up. He also gets not crap for giving good WARP artists (then restricted to being England-only I believe) some US exposure with signing them to Nothing.

His songs though, other than "Hurt" are incredibly grating to my ears now that I'm no longer in middle school. I think what really killed it for me was going to see him live at the Wolstein Center here in Cleveland on the Fragile Tour. $45 for crap seats and then dealing with $30 t-shirts, A Perfect Circle opening, and some other bullshit. He is also crap for bringing us Marylin Manson.

Every time my father, an abstract painter by trade, hears mention of Nine Inch Nails, he points out that their logo is incredibly well designed.

This is dead on. I'd like to see a band logo that can top the NIN:

Eh, not really.

I am not a fan of the DK logo. The shading is just cheesy.

Logos are generally unnecessary. The lowercase font on a lot of Reznor's releases work just as well:
