I keep trying to go to bed by 10:30, and waking up by 8a.m., but I am failing miserably.
I blame that last glass of wine...

Okay, I will FOR SURE get OUT of bed by 8 A.M.tomorrow,

FOR SURE.

Yay! Alarm went off at 8, I snoozed it once, and got up and out of bed on the 2nd buzzer, so I was out of bed before 8:30 A.M.

12 oz mouse was great. I even bought the dvd at one point. which was totally worth it.

but that was all like 10 years ago. probably 12 oz mouse isn't on tv anymore.

I am absolutely drunk.

Nothing more.

Yup. Regretful.
I mis-read something in another thread, made a stupid reply, so just posted an apology over there. I really need to turn off the computer when I'm having wine.

Naw. You just need to drink wine w/a lower ABV. You'll be pleasantly tipsy but more lucid, w/less of a hangover. Cabernet sauvignon is typically a slugger, at around 14 percent alcohol or higher. It needs to ripen and tends to be grown in warmer locales.

You can get good German riesling down in the 8 to 10 percent range, although it might be a touch sweet (but hopefully balanced by some nice acidity) since the sugar is what converts to alcohol. It doesn't have to be sickly or any sweeter than tart lemonade, though.

There are plenty of bone-dry Austrian whites at around 11 percent, as well as a lot of light, funky reds from the Loire that don't push 12 percent.

A good rule of thumb is to focus on stuff from cooler climates or higher elevations. If you don't mind eccentricity and inconsistency, a lot of so-called natural wines tend to be on the lower-alcohol end of the spectrum, plus they're free of many potentially gross additives that might make you feel worse the next day.

On the other hand, it's entirely possible that you dig a more high-octane style of winemaking, in which case there aren't too many options.

If you have $25 burning a hole in your pocket, Agnès et René Mosse make a lovely Anjou Rouge that's a blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. It rarely tops 12.5 percent. Perennial favorite around my apartment. A couple glasses shouldn't fuck you up much if you're a moderate social drinker.

Life is not fair.

Love is evil.

But life can be good at times despite.

Like now.

I like people.

Certain people.

They are good.

Merry Christmas.

I'm not sure if this should actually go in the Talk About Wine thread or the Quitting Drinking thread!

I do favor reds over whites, dry pretty much always, except for maybe Sangrias. If I'm drinking white, it would be a chardonnay or a pinot grigio. I'm one of those, "oh, I'll just have another little sip..." people, and my genetics aren't on my side when it comes to drinking in moderation.

I'll look for the Agnès et René Mosse Anjou Rouge. Maybe it can be my Farewell to Wine wine, when I make that Resolution to stop boozing it up so much.

I suspect that being drunk at 5:40 pm pushes me over to the "stop drinking" thread, yeah???

In my defense, I was giving a nice "table wine" for xmas, that I could try because I did not work today, nor do I have to work the rest of the week. Not sure if I should cut myself some slack, or be really worried that the drunky genes are taking hold...
