What's the worst cover ever recorded?

Postby SecondEdition on Tue Jul 25, 2006 12:31 pm

I don't know, sometimes I get a kick out of hearing great songs get completely mutilated by terrible groups.

Any suggestions on unintentionally parodic covers to listen to?

Korn's "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2."

Even more painful knowing that their cover of "Word Up" on the same record is actually pretty good.

"Cum on Feel the Noize" as recorded by Quiet Riot. Not that the original was good, but it was better than that steaming pile.

Make that plural and you've got Guns N' Roses' The Spaghetti Incident?, though Axl Rose's British accent is a hoot.

I'm a little ashamed to admit that I enjoy the guitars on this song...

I am ashamed to admit I have seen Korn play 3 times in my life for some reason.

Jon-Rae and the River's "Prayer to God" has to be in the running.

I'd have to say the Rolling Stones' cover of "My Girl" is pretty awful, but it's not the worst recorded cover ever. I'll have to dig a little deeper...

In trying to find a photo to prove cheesiness, I found out that they did a "Remix, Y2K"
A Remix...of a bad cover of someone else's song, for the millenium.

Oh - Metallica, "Last Caress." I'm not even that big of a Misfits fan and I got mad on their behalf when I heard this vomit pile.

I wanted to start this thread so many times!

If you will allow...WOOHOO!

My first suggestion is Built to Spill's cover of 'Linus and Lucy'. As much as I love BtS, this cover is simply incorrect; they play it wrong. And badly.

Ugh.

The Who's version of "Please Please Please." I bet James Brown laughed himself shitless after hearing that.

Not the worst but definitely the latest, in my mind: Poison's butchering of "We're an American Band."

Motley Crue's "Helter Skelter" is the worst cover. The worst.

Oooo! Oooo!

Motley Crue's "Anarchy in the USA!"

I love the Crue, but that was sooooo wrong.

Slayer's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida:" Crap or Not Crap?

Slayer's cover of "Guilty of Being White" where they changed the word "white" to "right."
