I wanna buy a wallet anna watchband.

Postby kerble on Wed Jun 20, 2007 1:42 am

I would like to buy a nice brown leather watchband for my new watch. it came with the metal band, but my arms are hairy, so that shit hurts.

Maybe not leather, though, y'know? I'm open to suggestions.

also, I would like to find the slimmest wallet you can recommend.
two cards and cash is all I carry.

I hate wallets, but I'm open to suggestions.

thank you.
kerble is right.

For your wallet, perhaps you can do your own version of the Hipster PDA? And no, I'm not being sassy. Been considering the switch a while, myself. Wallets are a pain... literally.

Watch band? I have a brown one off a $20 Timex you can have. How's that for one-stop shopping?

Wallet suggestion:

Buy yourself a bucket of fresh mussels. Put your money in them and then tap the shells to get them to shut. When you want to access your cash again, simply wee on them.

You have a tasty snack and a place to keep your quarters and (folded up) cash cards.

Oh Christ. I've been using those binder clips as my wallet for years.

Now it's a hipster thing?

Anyway, I love binder clips.

Faiz. Get a binder clip of proper size. You wrap your cash around your cards with one long edge of the bills and cards flush (bills are roughly in half). You put the clip midway along the long edge.

When you need cash, you pull one side of the bills away from the binder clip. You can pull any bill out of the stack, and reclipping them is rather easy.

Cards are a cinch.

Watch band, you can probably get a metal one that is fine enough linkage to avoid arm hair pull. I have the same issue, but the leather ones get rank on an everyday watch, in my exp.

You could get a diving watch band. Might be a little weird depending on the watch.

Will anyone will wear watches in 50 years? I think they're going the way of the felt hat.

I have a friend who makes duct tape wallets.

She made me one, but it was such a nice gift that she put so much time into, I can't bring myself to even use it. Well, that and the fact that another friend says that he accidentally put his through the wash, and now the duct tape glue sticks to the inside of his pocket and it's bit of a mess...

Anyway, I found this web page that shows how to make a duct tape wallet: http://www.rpi-polymath.com/ducttape/index.php

The best part is, you can custom design your wallet however you want it. Just make sure to remove it from your pocket before you wash your pants.

If you want to get creative, I'm sure you can come up with a design for a matching duct tape watchband.

Using them as a "pda" = hip. Using them as a money clip, not hip.

You're safe for the time being.

I use one too!

I am probably one of very few women who use a money clip though.

Honestly, it's only when I wear pants with no pockets.

Faiz,

What it sounds like would work would be a leather money clip or perhaps a "front pocket wallet". It's basically enough wallet to hold a couple of cards and a little gripper for your wad. And small enough so as not to interfere with the line you wish to cut in your Wranglers.

For visual reference, here's one.
And two.

If you want to really streamline your pocket situation, get a key wallet a.k.a. a key keeper. Enough space for your cards, a bit of cash and usually 6 little clips for your keys, all fitting in your palm. If you lose it you are way fucked. They are kind of hard to find now.

For watchbands, I think we gotta see what you're rolling with.

I think this might be my favorite EA post ever.
I'm speechless.
Such good advice too.

The duct tape wallet is a fine thing. I'm sure Chicago has a Saturday market, right? You can usually find them there, if you don't want to make your own. It's worth the dough to buy one. The crafty types have all of the colors and they do good work.

If you can't find one in ChiChi, get a friend in Portland to get one for you. Their Saturday market will have at least 4 stalls selling them.

Do you think they make a duct tape watchband? I'd tell you to just duct tape the watch to your arm, but the hair problem, you know...

If you want a leather wallet, just get one of those jobs that is essentially just two pockets that fold together. That's what I have - the "sciatica buster."
I carry two cards, a license and some Benjaminz. Well, Washingtonz and Lincolnz, actually.
If I need anything else, I load it into my front pocket and ditch it at the end of the day. Also, consider making a "master list." I took all of my membership numbers and all of that bullshit, put it on one card, and laminated it.

As Itchy stated, if you want watchband suggestions, show us the muf'kin watch, biyatch.

Indian and Marloboro made decent slim leather wallets. I got them free with pull-foils. Maybe you could get one on Ebay.

Hirsch make nice leather watch straps.
