Marantz CD 5001 or 6005! I'm still jamming the former without complaint. Surely you can score one for ~$100. Or 5x that for the latter which is apparently notably nicer.

And forget that second hand Kef stuff. I'm in love with these front ported Energy 22's:

Minty and sounding excellent in a comfy yet imperfect space. Hoping the refurbished tweeters/fluid will last decades.

Yeah, so far it kicks ass- the sacd playback is just as good as my expensive Sony, and the BluRay audio is insane. I'm going out to buy the Blu Ray of Tales From Topographic Oceans now. Prog fest.

Watched Goodfellas and Hendrix at the Atlanta Pop Festival on Blu Ray so far. They were fine, but I think I'll be using this mostly for the audio.

Finally got a cover for my VPI Scout. Looks good, and I won't have to let it collect dust or clean it frequently any more.

I recently sold a pair of 22.2 floorstanding models to one of my closest friends.
In the gap between when I put them up, and time I brought them to him, the 'million dollar' tweeter gummed up (the ferrofluid in the tweeter) and has basically stopped tweeting.

From what I read, the metal particles oxidize to the point where oxides attach to the pole piece and locks the diaphragm.

The resources I found for getting those fixed were ridiculously expensive.
I am interested in hearing your feedback on how your went.

I bought them from a guy in Ottawa who had sent them to Vancouver to someone known for doing this specific repair. He gave me the bill when I bought them. I'll have a look for it and send ya the info...

Those stereo space heaters next to the speakers? If so, good idea. Adds a lot of warmth.

I believe those are electrostatic speakers, not heaters.

Correct. Magnaplanars.

Note the huge pair stacked against the rear wall on the left.

Had these and the amp inside them broke so I had to send them back. Got another pair of smaller (A2??) ones for my sis and the power supply ate it within a few weeks. They sent a new PSU. My bro's smaller pair blew up also. That was a couple of years ago, maybe they've improved since...

New arrangement:

Vestax PDX-d3 (vinyl deck) & Yamaha KX-390 (cassette deck) & minijack for laptop > NAD 3020 (split for pre) > NAD 2155 (power) > Paradigm Atom monitors.

Paradigm Atom monitors

Great small speakers. Paradigm make their own drivers, and that's great, BUT..

My friend blew a tweeter in his Monitor 11's and nobody had the part, including Paradigm. He had to replace both tweeters. Be careful.

Whoah that sux. Thank you for the heads up. My pair have been going strong for over six years, but I rarely hammer them.

Oh, it was this guys fault for sure, he sent pure electricity into those poor things. Operator Error.

When the tech pulled the tweeter out, the voice coil fell down like a slinky, *ging* *ging*...

If you absolutely must have your speakers on the same structure as the turntable, invest in a pair of these:
