Interesting fact: the proportion of dance music that is "actually good" (0.8%) is in fact four times greater than the proportion of rock music that is actually good (0.2%).

Bad rock music is far more annoying to hear, too.

Ethel Beatty - I Know You Care
The Bloods - Button Up
Bobby Marchan - Push the Button
Jody Harris - Mr. Control
Towanda Barnes - You Don't Mean It
Candy & The Kisses - The 81
Flava - I Can Do
Nina Sky - You Ain't Got It
The Sapphires - The Slow Fizz
Dobie Gray - Out On The Floor
Sonny Jones - Sissy Walk
Frank Dell - Tell Me Love

I like songs about dances.

This is a great song, and the bassline is fucking nuts.

Yesterday I re-discovered an old favorite. Back in 1983, pre-house Chicago, everyone in my neighborhood was blasting My Mine - Hypnotic Tango. Hands down, my favorite italo-disco track. Better than Klein & M.B.O.'s "Dirty Talk," better than Ken Lazslo's "Hey Hey Guy," better than Miko Mission's "The World Is You." The chorus makes me happy I have ears, and the rhythm makes me happy I can appreciate a quality disco track; the video just plain makes me happy.

Applause!

Here's a new track that happens to make me very happy, just came out on 5th of December:

Jozif (featuring Terri Walker) - Twilight

Wonderful.

Has no one really mentioned New Order?

I'll admit, this song contains some musical atrocities. But fucking hell. If it comes on at a party, I will dance. Index fingers in the air.

Only the Brotherhood version; no musical atrocities there. The one on Substance can jump in a lake.

As much as I dig soul, funk, r&b, house, et al., it's time to get noisy and weird:

Lumerians - Burning Mirrors

Mekanik Kommando - Stop and Play

Whales - New Driver

edited.

I know electro/ebm/proto-industrial (CV, early NE and the like...please don't) isn't big around these parts, but for the spattering of appreciators who might be reading you would do yourselves well to check these guys out. From Chicago, of course. Sounds straight from 1987.

This duo is hit or miss I have come to learn. I like it when they hit.

White Car - Not Right

"The Bridge" is the motherfucking jam. Not on youtube. Shame.

New Villager.

they were opening for Sebastien Grangier & the Mountains, which was really not... anyway, New Villager is the best live band i have seen. while playing all electronic instrumentation live, the keyboardist/lead singer danced wildly in beautiful strangeness, including "lobster clap jump".

Holly Maxwell - Happiness Will Only Cost You One Thin Dime

Eddie Bo - Every Dog Got His Day
I love the drumming on this track by (I think) John Boudreaux.

Bonnie Brisker - So Much Lovin' (Deep Inside of Me)

Evelyn "Champagne" King - The Other Side of Love
Incredible song. I can't understand why people don't like disco.

Cut Hands - Who No Know Go Knows

Djavan - Nereci

Alice Smith - Love Endeavor (Maurice Fulton Remix)
