The Coda

Postby RSMurphy on Fri Mar 14, 2008 7:28 pm

I've just finished listening to "Symptom of the Universe." Love the end of that tune. Sometimes I find the coda is my favorite part of a song when in use. It's like the aural equivalent of an exclamation point. What are some of your most celebrated finishes?

Cherubs - Baby Huey

Damon and Naomi w/Ghost - The New World

The Flaming Lips - Begs and Achin'

Supertramp - Goodbye Stranger

New Brutalism - 056.75

Not sure if i counts since it's a 'bonus track', but "His Mark Replies" off It'll Be Cool is the best coda ever.

I know this is asking for it, but Zeppelin did have some great codas. "That's the Way" has a great coda, and the mellow outros for "Over the Hills..." and "Thank You" have always hit a sweet spot for me.
Their EP "Coda", not too much.

as far as my favorites: "chrome hearts" and "that's funny, i don't feel like a shit head" by the ex models have awesome outros...about 4minutes long.

Paul Newman's "The New Goth" popped into my head about fifteen minutes ago and that coda has been on repeat for just as long.

Good one. This whole record has batshit instrumental parts. I prefer it to Marquee Moon as a guitar record.

Here's that rhythm again,
Here's that picture I saved,
Here's my shoulder blade,
Here's that sound again.

Here I am.

The piano coda of "Layla" is better than the rest of the song.

Polvo were strong with intros and codas. The coda to "Stinger" is my favorite rock music. Each instrument is so strong.
