One CD mix of a band you like for someone interested

Postby Marsupialized on Wed Jul 22, 2009 12:04 pm

I have been searching and I can't find a thread that fits this exactly.
If someone can find one, kerble me right up my pooper.

Basically, I want people to name a band they are interested in and have someone else knowledgeable in their matters come in and lay out the mix CD they personally would make for someone who was looking to check them out. What songs in what order they'd make for someone to sell them on the band.

One blank CD, 80 minutes.

Did we ever do this?

I volunteer to create CD mixes of The Fall for anyone interested.

LB, that's a tall order.
Records for sale.

I will do the Ex when I get home later tonight.
One CD is real tough, my essential ex mix is like 4 CD's. I will whittle it down.

I would LOVE a Fall one as I am not very well versed at all in their stuff and have always wanted to explore them more but never got around to it.

I will just put this out there right now: yes steve, I can make a Primus essentials mix CD for you. For anyone here, really.

Now now, one at a time.

seriously, go get It'll Be Cool. It's a perfect record. I was totally late to the party on Silkworm, but this album is incredible. It took me a bit to get it. holy shit, so great. great songs, brilliant playing, impeccably recorded.

bought it a few years back, and snoozed for a while. now I've played it maybe 100+ times in the past year.

I'd open it up with 'The toys go winding down' but that's just me.

I'd open it up with 71 minutes and 59 seconds of silence and then a single bass note.

No, it has to start with "Pudding Time."

I could do a pretty wicked Motorhead mix, if anyone needed that.

Does it open with Ace of Spades or close with Ace of Spades?

It opens with "Leaving Here," actually. I think it might close with "Going To Brazil."

Where does R.A.M.O.N.E.S. fall in your Motorhead mix?

See, I haven't made it yet, I was waiting to see if anyone wanted one. R.A.M.O.N.E.S. is probably another song from 1916 I'd pick. Good chance that one's on there.

Jon

If I want him to really make with the pudding, the first track should be Mr Krinkle, My Name Is Mud or half of anything off the Brown album. Anyway I only have a few comprehensive discographies and those are Secret Chiefs 3, Burnt By The Sun, Soylent Green, Buckethead, DKs, Misfits, and the Dave Brockie Experience. But I could get a fool started on Prince Paul or Throbbing Gristle.

I could compile a good "best of" or "worst of" Kiss. There would probably be some overlap between the two.

So, ok. So far we have requests for The Ex and The Fall as well as Silkworm.
Let's get the requests going more than the offers, who else anyone want someone to do?
