I don't know who the bass player is, but he's really good.

The best bass line from a band that it's almost entirely based around bass lines with stuff thrown upon them.

Simple Minds, Hurrah's NYC 1979. Long before they got crap.
I love everything about this, from Jim Kerr's otherwordly freak persona performance to the synth chords, but ultimately, that bassline. I'd have that bassline on my gravestone.

I feel I should point out that the studio version on the album is very different, and not as good. Slower, with much more in your face 'rock' guitars, which don't suit the song IMO.

I am lowkey obsessed with the bassline on this song. The slippery, stuttery synth line is doing it for me.

I don't know if this is an electric bass or a synthesized bass line:

But I do know that Michael Steele of the Bangles is playing it on an electric bass here, and it rules:

A recent sentimental trip starting with the Born Against catalog got me revisiting all sorts of crusty early '90s nooks and crannies, eventually leading to my favorite Econochrist song... and holy cow I'd forgotten how good this band's bass lines were:

Brian Hooper's bass line on Rowland S. Howard's Pop Crimes is superb!

Also Martyn P. Casey's bass line on The Triffids' Hell of a Summer is awesome:

I've also been listening to shit load of Vulfpeck. Joe Dart's bass lines are nice.
