Tim Wright left Pere Ubu to start DNA. Try there.

Also good:
Magazine, "A Song From Under the Floorboards" and "The Light Pours Out of Me"
Elvis Costello and the Attractions, "New Lace Sleeves"
Henry Threadgill, "Can't Wait 'Til I Get Home"
Those Motown songs (especially James Jamerson's work on "What's Goin' On")
The Who, "Pictures of Lily"
Those Beatles songs
That stuff Peter Hook played on, especially "Ceremony"
Van Morrison, "Astral Weeks"
Steely Dan, "The Royal Scam"

Also, there's this band called Bottomless Pit. Maybe all the songs on Lottery ought to be included here, plus a few others that haven't been releases yet, like "Fleece."

Probably obvious, but Joy Division's Disorder. Paying attention to the guitar and bass sorta makes me dizzy.

And "Pinch" - Can.
That makes me an angry boy.

Malat is a unique bass player. "Alien Landscape" by the Great Unraveling comes to mind.

Actually, he joined after the No New York comp came out.

Regardless, check out the bass line for this DNA classic:

The end of "Blue Baby" by Circus Lupus, especially when the distortion kicks in. Superlative.

Yeah, it's like the bass player took the cool end part of Maggie May and made a whole intro out of it. It totally sticks in your head.
