I don't think this board has much of a presence in western Mass, but we are playing a show in Northampton in a couple of weeks:

Image

Thumbknuckle is my thing. We are a three piece instrumental-cartoony-math rock-jazz thing. Or something. We do 10 songs in 15 minutes, all fast and angular and chock full of weird meter changes and such. It's fun. The guitar player is Adam Bosse, he does a lot of free jazz and otherwise improvised music in the area, and he used to have a rock duo thing that I can't recall the name of now. He's also the 'jazz guy' at a local community college and does a lot of private teaching. The drummer is Andy Kivela, it's possible some of you know his old band Graph. They did a fair amount of touring around the east coast and mid west. He does a floating members free jazz collective called 23 and is also the new drummer in Goddard, from Worcester. That band would be right up the alley of a lot of folks around here, you should all check them out. Very high quality noise rock thing, especially now that they have this guy on drums.

The other bands are all great: Tom Crean is a guitar/electronics/composer dude who has played with Anthony Braxton amongst other things; Mysterbear is a guy named Dave Seidel who does microtonal ambient and drone electronics stuff, and Dust Witch is a four piece (bass/drums/2 keyboard players) band that is all about 70's Italian prog and soundtrack music.

Fake Limbs and Radiant Republic will be the first PRF bands to come to South Bend on August 4th. It's only about 2 hrs from Chicago - come out on a cultural safari. Step back in time 5 whole years.

Just bumping these up since the shows are tomorrow and the next day. If you're around and interested, Japmn and I would love hang out. PRFers are the bestest.

I was there! Great to meet and hang out with clockworkbird and Japmn (and Rick). Great set. Reminded me a bit of Denali. Their first time in Madison. Good show, good crowd. Cheers.

Can't imagine this will help at this point, but this show is tonight. Fake Limbs can no longer make the trip, but RR will still be giving the people of Indiana what they love best: abstract math rock.

9pm, $5.

No Chicago show, but we are looking to do a record release show sometime in May and are possibly looking for some local flavor.

The record comes out May 4th on Sick Room and sounds like this:

and looks like this:

Fred used to be in some bands that are OK like June of 44, Hoover, Him, Abeline, Just A Fire, etc. And the people have played in great bands all over the indianapolis/bloomington communities for years and years.

Alarms and Controls is my friend Chris Hamley's new band. He used to play in some bands that were OK like Circus Lupus, Antimony, and The Monorchid!

Oh and Andrew Greenburg plays bass in Freddie T. Some of you may remember him as Cartographer's bass player for the 2010 BBQ at the Drug Church.
