Peter Steele from Type O Negative Dead at 48

Postby Mark Hansen on Thu Apr 15, 2010 11:44 am

Peter Steele from Type O Negative has died at the age of 48, apparently from heart failure.

If Type O wasn't so crappy I'd maybe know some song titles and make a tasteless joke based on one of them.
Edit: I've grown to appreciate some of their music, partly thanks to these tasteless jokes

Yeah, as far as I know I don't know anything they did, I never listened to them at all.

I did know many goth types who listened to them, back in the day.

I have a few friends with otherwise fine musical tastes that love this band. I always perceived them as a slightly more underground version of Marilyn Manson. I'm not missing anything am I?

I always really appreciated their sense of humor. I don't own anything by them or listened to them regularly, but when they did, their lyrics always gave me a good chuckle. They had a sense of self-awareness that's pretty absent in that scene, from what i can tell.

That's too bad. Like DrAwkward, I never owned any of their stuff, but thought they were hilarious.

RIP.

There's nothing to 'get', they were a goth metal band and that's about it. I saw them play twice and they were ok, not the worst shit I've seen. Better than Danzig, who they were opening for, that's for sure. Just super slow vampire goth metal stuff. They did a slow, grinding goth metal set then closed with three completely faithful Beatles covers in a row. That was funny.
He banged a lot of super hot goth chicks, I imagine. There were enough of them at the shows throwing themselves at him, I know that much.

BTW, he was in a thrash band called Carnivore back in the day who were pretty good.

Should have been Dio.

Wow. Jumbo Danzig is dead. He never made it to the novelty pro wrestling stage of his career. Kinda sad.

I am totally glad I started this thread, simply for the words "Jumbo Danzig".
