Hey! This band was fuckin' great tonight and you all missed it!

Pile: next time you're looking for a bar show in the northside, I (or several others here) can help you get a show at Quenchers with better fitting bands and an audience who will love what you do. They pay well, too. And maybe some of these lazy fuckers will show up for that one! Feel free to PM me..

The singing on "Afraid of Home" reminds me, weirdly, of Parts & Labor. I don't know if you can find a more dissimilar band to Pile than Parts & Labor, but there you go.

This is good.

You're on your own in that Parts and Labor comparison. I have to admit I don't hear that at all, though Parts and Labor is an interesting band itself.

For some reason, the first band that I thought of when I heard Pile was Truly (damn Fast Stories from Kid Coma is a good album). Different bands to be sure, but if this was the mid-90's, Pile could have been signed to Sub Pop and would have been that generation which was taking the next evolutionary step away from grunge that seemed to have gotten lost. And now we'd be talking about Pile like we do of Truly. (Does anyone here talk of Truly?)

My point is, that you can hear Pile and see them live now and you don't have to be nostalgic for them. Did any of the Minneapolis PRFers catch them last night?

Ok. For the last time, here's the rest of their schedule:

Concerning the shows outside of Boston, some of them have venues and some don't, which means we're in the process of figuring it out. But if there's a city listed, you can bet your balls on a knicks game we're gonna be there. so if you want to help (and help means food, housing, money, drugs, sex, america) please do. the tbd's are just us figuring out where we're going to be.. but everywhere else, we're gonna be there. and if it changes, don't worry, i will invade your inbox with the rest of the penis pills and mailing lists you regretted signing up for but are reluctant to mark as spam.

Great! Quenchers appears to be open that date, they should definitely email Steve. If they need a local to 'vouch' for them, definitely PM someone on here and we'll hook them up. I'm not even sure if RR could play that date, I'd just love to see them again* and at a better venue this time.

*slight chance I'll be in Minneapolis for the Shellac show

p.s. I went ahead and sent them an email.

Sticking these fuckers in a chicago loft warehouse 9/1.

It seems you've been trying for Quencher's, so I don't want to appear to be cock-blocking it, but I had been working on booking this for a few months since the spot they usually play, "Casa Donde" (mortville) , is no more.

I have two openers, but just asked Sowley if Fake Limbs would play.

Anyways. 9/1. 9pm. 3950 w. grand. $5. BE THERE. FB Event : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Gonzo-Ch ... 226?ref=hl

I would love to see those Madison/Milwakee/Chicago pages made a little more useful if any of you guys want to jump on it. That would be awesome.

Thanks to everyone who has pitched in so far. The South is pretty well documented so far.

Dear Pile, the hifi are out of town or we would be at your show, Aaron the guy who booked it is a class act the place he booked it at is not his normal place, but its pretty cool (although kind of hard to find) eat at Beans and Barley right next to the club. Do not eat at Toppers Pizza, you will get the runs.

The Frequency is cool too, Darwin that runs the place is a good motherfucker. Sometimes shows can be a bit blah there. The gay bar next door has good burgers, the gay dudes will mess with you for like a second but as long as you are cool they will be. The Frequency is also a bitch to find and Madison is weird.

"Blue Flame Ford" is a good one. I've got that one some split colour 10". I've always really liked the song "Hurricane Dance" as well.

So, the vinyl for their new album is out now, and I just got my free download of this as well.

It is, as with their previous album, superlative.

It has some almost transcendental moments, and some moments that are just flat out overwhelming. It covers territory that just about everyone on this forum will be familiar with, but it avoids the cliches, changes itself up fairly often, and sounds fresh. Good musicianship, good recording.

My only criticism might be that the vocals are a little more buried on this one.

But seriously, worth picking up. Also, if you haven't heard their previous effort Magic isn't Real, that's also excellent.

Looks like you can listen to the whole thing on Bandcamp now:

It's fucking great. So far two of the best albums I've heard this year are on this label (this record and the Speedy Ortiz 10").

DRUMS!

Great work on this record! Absolutely great.
