^cause when you read the headline "prostitute saves kidnapped child celebrity from sex slavery" you still want to see it done and know all about it. we all knew seabiscuit was gonna win but everybody still worried like that horse might not triumph but he did it.

scary, heartwrenching, sick in a real way that made me queasy and then it was also sweet and one of the best coming of age examples of what it's like to lose your innocence one step at a time as a girl becomes a young adult ... this movie had so much. ahead of its time in 2005 by american standards, but i wasn't old enough to handle it until now prob anyway.

smart female lead + wilderness survival + excellent soundtrack = adequate societal satisfaction

Anya Taylor-Joy Reteams With ‘Witch’ Director on ‘Nosferatu’!

Robert Eggers‘ The Witch was hands down my favorite genre film of 2016. In fact, I rarely rewatch movies, yet have revisited The Witch well over a dozen times. It’s a masterpiece. It was obvious he would move onto something great but I never imagined he would take on the risky Nosferatu remake. Yet, here we are, and if there’s one person I’m confident in it would be Eggers. Not only did he make a masterful genre film that had shades of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining but it was a low budget indie period piece, which is like playing with fire in the film world. It’s unclear the direction of this remake but I can only hope that he dabbles in period once again and takes it to another level.

He’s going to have some help, however, reteaming with his The Witch star Anya Taylor-Joy, who went on to star in M. Night Shyamalan’s monster hit Split, reports Variety.

The 1922 silent movie followed the vampire Count Orlok of Transylvania, who wants to buy a house in Germany and becomes enamored of the real-estate agent’s wife. It was an unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” and Werner Herzog directed a 1979 remake.

Taylor-Joy is currently filming New Mutants with the Split sequel, Glass, shaping up to shoot soon after. Nosferatu should shoot early in 2018.

The Void

Currently on Netflix. Don't want to say a whole lot about it, and spoil it for anyone else. You will know if you are "In" or not by about twenty minutes in.

A Dark Song is the most beautiful and poetic occult film of the year. I've yet to see The Devil's Candy, and though I have heard and read terrific things about it, I'm sure it doesn't swing for the fences in the same manner. Absolutely transcendent. A grieving mother attempts to contact her recently deceased son with the help of a necromancer with issues via a challenging, months-long, ritual at a home in Northern Wales; a home where they are both confined by ceremony until the ritual has been completed. Highly recommended.

My girlfriend and I are trying to watch one horror movie a night until Halloween for October, alternating choices between us each night, and mostly trying to stick to ones we haven't seen. Last night we watched Gerald's Game which was pretty dumb, albeit entertaining enough. I'll probably keep a running list of what we watch and some kind of grade, for whatever the hell that's worth.

I'm thinking Deep Red or Cemetery Man tonight.

October rules.

If you creeps have COMET on your cable, they are showing Blood and Lace with only a few parts cut out, it is the sickest PG rated movie ever, check your listings and thank me later...

Vic does take an interest in Ellie, who looks like a cross between Madonna and a young Hillary Clinton. You really have to see this movie.

Filipino drive-In horror classic The Twilight People is on TCM tonight. Lots of block head acting, bad effects, and crazy soundtrack music. Pam Grier is a panther woman. It's awful but you should watch it anyway.
