Thanks for the gesture, but with some left over student loan I'll be able to afford a ticket and stuff. Depending on ticket prices of the plane I should also be able to buy food too!

excellent, nice to hear.

so who's going to be mr. or ms. may?

I understand the Ringo deal takes precedent above all else, but let us not lose hope that one day we are able to climb from the ashes and restore the PRF to it's one time glory, as a force for good in this world.

When I hear of an issue that a PRF member in good standing (with me, there will be a seperate thread to raise money to make the lives of those who insult me WORSE) I will post it here and you know, maybe a motherfucker who can help can help a motherfucker.

The man has not asked for anything, no clue what his situation is insurance-wise, but BadComrade woke to this this morning:

Wasn't in Chicago, I think spoilers are for Internet Police Cars.

I've got some leftover BLACKS merchandise I'll sell off to help out.

In all seriousness: is there a number we're talking? I had the same shit happen to me about a year ago, same thing with the key chip bullshit, and it cost me like $400.

Thanks man. I have full coverage so I just have to pay the deductible and shit gets taken care of. I borrowed my mom's Hyundai Santa Fe, so I'm good to go. This:

nearly made the experience worth while. We live in Chicago, and we usually live near shitty neighborhoods, and the people from those neighborhoods come into our neighborhoods and fuck shit up sometimes. It's to be expected. I've been wondering when this would happen for the last 5 years. I figured most car thieves know that you can't hotwire these things, so I felt "safe". As Steve V pointed out, there are ones that don't know, so that's that.

I'm just glad dude didn't do a hole-punch-through-the-sheet-metal-on-the-door move like they did on your car. This guy was suave, until he got inside. I told the insurance company that the broken arm rest storage thing that's been broken for like 3 years got busted by the guy that broke in to it last night, so there's that...

If anyone was thinking about donating anything towards this, send it to the Ringo fund instead.

Here's an idea that's been rattling around in my head for awhile- a kind of socialist musicians' collective.

There'd be, like, a physical space with rehearsal rooms. Donated musical equipment, which people could check out as if from a library. A yearly membership fee which could potentially be paid off through volunteer hours, etc. etc.

I mean, that's the basics right now. I've thought of things ion greater detail, but I just wanted to throw the general idea out for now.

This is a really great idea. It seems like a logical extension of the DIY ethos which isn't really touched upon that often. Salut!

I'm glad people are into this idea. I'm not sure where to begin except by expanding on it, discussionwise:

I'm thinking with donated gear, yes, if somebody's paid or worked off a membership fee things can be checked out, like at a library. However, I'm thinking, if somebody should donate, or the space should attain really expensive, or high end gear, there should be some slightly more rigid guidelines. Maybe it can't leave the space unless an additional deposit is put down? That it's mainly there for instruction or recording?

I'm also thinking that experienced or working musicians can work off memberships by teaching or holding workshops/clinics/etc.

Anybody with anything else to add to this I'm all ears. Even/especially in the form of caveats, criticisms, etc.
