First of all, it was great to hear from many of you that I know/know of through this space during the show.

Second, as a man who believes in traditions (and traditions within traditions) I was delighted to learn that the "secret ingredient" in the mushroom/sweet potato/ginger stew my wife makes annually to keep me hearty but not loggy during the marathon was Midyett Premium Rub.

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Other tidings of this season!

All of the stories and songs recorded for the 2012 edition of the 24-Hour Holiday Radio Show on WPRB have been archived in one location.

A couple of these are already linked to above in the thread but there's great stuff here from Prowler, Dana Rossi, David Hill, Jonathan Bloom, The King Of Jingaling, The Novenas, the forum's own Christopher Williams, Matthew Callan, Lance Bangs, Jennifer O'Connor & Amy Bezunartea, Chris Brokaw, Joel RL Phelps and Mac McCaughan.

If you can listen to Chris/Plastic Flame's story without welling up a bit you're a stronger person than I.

I HEARD THAT STORY! on Christmas day, as I drove to the bakery to get bread for dinner. My father in law lay in a coma, my wife was an emotional wreck from the events of the previous day (FIL going into a coma, etc, detailed elsewhere), it moved me a great deal on that day, and it is a pleasure to hear it again after some time has passed.

thanks Chris. Thanks Jon for doing this. I plan to listen more next year. It is nice to be in range of WPRB.

I share those compliments as a preamble to my request that you (yes, you!) record a "Christmas Story" for the 2013 edition of the 25-Hour Holiday Radio Show on WPRB.

A reading of some fashion? An original song? A cover? A re-telling of a personal experience? Something else entirely? That's up to you.

I've posted more details here:
http://keepingscoreathome.com/?p=2144

The last two years of stories are linked above.

The deadline is December 20, 2013.

Apologies for the self-promotion.

Happy Holidays!

Jon

I FIXED MY OWN POST.

In all seriousness, putting this up here last year led to some great recordings and I hope that will be the same case in 2013!

I'll send you a story and a song. The story will probably be about the Christmas I ate roadkill at the Grand Canyon. Either that, or the Christmas I hooked up with a lady lumberjack with hands that had the callouses of someone who had been holding a chainsaw all of her adult life. Hands like baseball mitts. I will try to keep these stories within FCC regulations.

Several of you recorded pieces for this year's show, and sent me material I did not previously have in my collection. For that I am appreciative.

My family and I enjoyed the Misfits-inspired set, particularly "20 liiiiiights on my tree!" and "We are 12/25!"

Unfortunately missed the The Fall set.
