I actually hate this tendency among modern guitars. it's not weird at all, it's just recombined elements of standard models. It's like everything's come down to a very limited set of standard components which you just recombine using some virtual guitar builder. I'm sure it's more cost effective that way, which is why it's shit.

Look what happened to Reverend: they used to build quirky distinctive guitars, now it's just recombinations. The heyday was the 60s with each builder offering its own unique pickups, vibratos etc.

Talman solid-bodies were a slow selling 90s model that now have a minor cult following.

We had a few of those Talmans through the shop I worked at in the mid-90s and I really took to them, but priorities like 'an amp' and 'driving lessons' took precedence. The early models had MDF bodies, of all things - later on this became alder and ash I think. The body shape was remarkably comfortable and they had interesting lipstick or mini-humbucker pickup configurations. I'm quite into that new model in the middle.

Dunno, could always hide the body behind the curtain and use the headstock to hook the offending performer offstage before it gets too bad...

I've played that guitar a few times. ^ It sounds great but it's too fragile and susceptible to temperature changes.

But it does have a certain undeniable atmosphere.
