Nice.

Question: I have an amazing live version of "The Dark Don't Hide It" that is labeled as being on "What Comes After The Blues" in my iTunes, next to the regular version from the album. Maybe it came as a download with the LP or something, but I don't think so. Not sure how or why anyone would know, but where did this come from?

It's really great.

From the 'Trials & Errors' live LP.

Holy crap, I think that's it, and it was right in front of my face! Thanks, mang. - http://live.magnoliaelectricco.com/album/trials-errors

I caught S:O once in late '98 in Bloomington. I thought it was great, though it's not what I was into at the time from a stylistic point. I never really caught on, though I paid attention whenever S:O or MEC would come up. This is mainly because of the Indiana connection. I never thought of myself as a person with local pride, but after leaving Indiana I find myself defending Indiana and nostalgic for Indiana.

I watched the recording and Canadian tour documentaries. Now I can't stop listening to Josephine. It perfectly encapsulates a certain midwest and plains states ennui that I've tried to get into my music and repeatedly failed. I think Jason Molina has a certain power of emotional communication.

Safe travels...

As ever, thanks to the PRF for bringing to my attention someone that I know very little about.

How can anyone consider music worthless or valueless when songs like this are written? This song wasn't written to sell t shirts or concert tickets. It was written because it is so fucking beautiful.

I'd never heard those "Magnolia Demos" before. The demo for "Hold On, Magnolia" is truly beautiful/heartbreaking/life affirming all at once.

The disc of this came with the Magnolia Electric Co. record (or the last Songs:Ohia album, however you want to call it).

It's a wonderful addendum to that album. One of the reasons that my band put out the demo form of our last album, actually. Completely inspired by this collection.

PM me if you'd be interested in contributing vocals. Otherwise I'd have to do them and trust me when I say nobody wants that.

This is happening. Kerble on vocals. I'm more excited about this than any of my Western Standards bullroar.

A friend has made a very small run of prints with all proceeds going to Jason's medical funds and here is the link and it's really nice.

This one hit me gradually, but hit hard. His songs have become trusted friends, and that's something you don't get from most. What a songwriter, what a voice, and so sad that his struggle ended the way it did.

Such an eloquent tribute. I have some catching up to do like I did with Jack Rose. Names I'd see and just wonder if I was ready to listen to them.

I turned forty-whatever Friday.

Good on you, Steve V.

Those holy shit, batman emails can be archived. Mine are.

RIP.

Finally gave Major's rough mix of "Ghost" the car test. It thumps and is just beautiful.
Really looking forward to singing on this.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but I found this while dickin' around on Youtube. It's an hour long film documenting the recording of Josephine by Magnolia Electric Company;
