I'm getting sick of the GOP faithful referring to the middle right as the "extreme socialist left."

My daughter did Frozen non-stop for about a year. I didn't get tired of it at all, not because I love the Frozen songs - although honestly I think Frozen is a very fine film and believe me I have studied it extensively - but because hearing my daughter sing always warms my heart, you monster.

Even when she sings that fuckin' Angel Olsen, even then, even then.

Oh yeah, I'm tired of Angel Olsen.

Yes. They're not socialists! They're not the far left! They're not even the left at all! They just. Are. Not.

Just the fucking... sheer unreality of it all. I feel like humanity is coming unglued. Like we don't even have facts any more, just opinions now.

I found the best way to deal with this was just to join in. Really go for it. It's amazing how quickly a 5 year old will find Frozen really uncool when her Dad is acting out all the parts. She hasn't mentioned this movie or asked for the music in months now.

So times I just break into the big song numbers randomly in public around her just to make sure it stays really uncool.

It also works with Moana... The line where the sky meets the sea is calling me...

Fuck you! I am the admin, I should have authorization to do everything. If I wanted my computer to think for me, I'd buy a fucking Mac!

haha i successfully avoided mwanana

this new peter rabbit, though, has got me by the tail, so to speak.. seeing it en avance and getting her the poster hasnt been enough... acting out to make it uncool is always the best route. we're able to laugh and move on after

Moana is a bit rubbish.

Beautiful to look at; the water is as much of a technical marvel as the snow in Frozen was, and the Polynesian folk art is recreated just as lovingly as the Norwegian folk art in Frozen. The songs are mostly ok, more thanks to Opetaia Foa'i than Lin-Manuel Miranda I suspect, except for the stupid David Bowie tribute courtesy of Jermaine Clement who I am getting tired of hearing. And the main theme which was clearly intended to be another Let It Go but they just hammer away on that chorus hook relentlessly.

It's nice for the Polynesian girls to have a Disney princess who looks like them; I think this is a significant thing. You don't often see island culture up on screen and it was handled with sensitivity and respect, so props to Disney there. Although the story bears no resemblance to the actual Maui myths (spoiler alert: Maui is not crushed to death inside a goddess' vagina in this version).

However, the script is a dud. It's boring. No drama. Plus it's directed by the Aladdin directors, and it shows. My girl never caught Moana-mania, so that's good. I think she also found it a bit dull.

I would never try to sabotage my kids' enjoyment of something they like though. That's a bit of a dick move really isn't it?

Leaf blowers. Have I said that before? I'm thinking they ought to be illegal. I mean, I live on the goddamn coast of California. If anyplace doesn't need leaf blowers, it's here. Christ!

Totally. Can be swapped for lawn mowers, hedge clippers or anything else that wakes you up at eight in the morning during summer holidays.

I liked Moana.

Daughter is also obsessed with Monsters Inc., Which Is ok with me. I enjoy John Goodman's voice.

Could be a teen of the 90's "Rosanne" thing.

I'd never get tired of hearing John Goodman's voice either. Monsters Inc. is one of my favourite Pixar films.

Me too. I don't give a shit about the noise aspect, but I see these as probably the biggest unnecessary waste of natural resources. Nowhere needs these.

Eh, I'll give these a pass around autumn here (and probably much of the east coast) when they gather piles of leaves taller than a person. That would take all day with a rake.

Now when they have full motors a blazin' on some manicured strip mall or apartment complex that is mostly parking lot.. yeah, annoying waste.

I mostly just see landscape companies blowing leaves and clippings into the street or from sidewalks pretty much all summer/fall. Which the wind blows back anyway, of course.

Sometimes people who do creative art for a living are asked in interviews "Why do you do this art thing (and not something else)?", and they reply "Because I can't do anything else".

Like, bullshit. If you didn't have the opportunity to do this, you would be a street cleaner or a substitute teacher or something, and you would manage that perfectly fine.

^joan jett said it in the best way like truly, if she wasn’t doing this she’s be dead on the street or in some trailer park

my favorite celebrity thing though is muhammad ali saying something like “if you even dream you’re me... you better wake up and apologise!”

Since we're talking about Disney musicals, I have to pump up Hercules. The animation sucks, but it has the best "princess" and best music of them all (I Won't Say I'm in Love is a legitimately good song) . The story is great, as are James Woods and Bobcat. Check it out.
