Yeah man, I had a day to think it over and we don't really have a bullpen now*. Carson Smith may be a future closer, and it sucks Boston will most likely reap the benefits of having a killer relief core with him in it.

*Besides Benoit and Furbush, maybe. Zych and Nuno would be more than welcome to build on their small samples of success in 2016.

Too bad Seattle doesn't appear to have any inclination towards Cueto, would be cool to get to watch that dude pitch here in town and "Cano, Cueto, Cruz" has a nice ring to it.

Where is he going to land, anyway? SF? Toronto? Houston? Washington? The Yankees? Anywhere but STL... please.

My pipe dream for the Mariners was a Jason Heyward signing since he fits all of the requirements Jerry Dipoto claimed to look for in acquisitions. I didn't think they'd go for another 8-10yr/200MMish contract, but if they did I would have liked to see him get it. Trades are a lot more fun however, and most of the guys we gave up were absolutely replaceable for parts thay we did need to contend. A lot of success hinges on Leonys Martin not actually being as awful at the plate as he was in 2015, though.

As for pitching, I wanted to see a buy low Doug Fister reunion signing. Right the wrong of trading Fister in the first place, Mariners!

Cueto is hated in STL. I just can't see that happening.

Cubs to sign Jason Heyward. I'm guessing he'll play CF or maybe they'll trade Soler. His contact abilities will be good for all the swing and miss the Cubs have, but I'm not sure I like the contract he'll get.

He's only 26 and apparently signed for less than 200 million, very curious how that contract looks and if there's an opt out or not.

I'm seeing 8/185 on the blogs. No word on an opt-out.

Pretty lukewarm stove this week so far other than Cueto to SF, facing that dude in that park is not going to be fun.

Yankees just added Aroldis Chapman to a bullpen that already included Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller.

Providing the Yankees don't trade Miller, which apparently they might - That is going to be a 7th/8th/9th inning of filth.

I don't know if it makes any sense considering the state of the rotation and questionable hitting, but fuck it, I'll watch a dude that arguably could be the best reliever in MLB pitch the seventh, sounds fun.

So now Thor is hurt too? At some point you have to look at your training staff. Hard to win with injured pitchers and no offense to speak of.
