Holy shit, the Mariners got a legitimate defensive CF who's also annoying as hell on the base paths against other teams! Leonys Martin from Texas was swapped for Tom Wilhelmsen and James Jones. This is like our first legitimate CF since Franklin Gutierez was fully healthy, so as much as I hope his bat wakes up, I am happy to see Dipoto actually targeting defensive acquisitions.

Inner-division trades still worry me, though. Wilhelmsen had a great story and was one of the only consistent pieces of our finicky bullpen, so good luck to him and here's hoping we can add another arm or two in his place.

I will miss this.

Jake Arrieta gets the NL Cy Young. Cardinals fans are demanding a recount. They think it should have gone to Molina.

It looks like Billy Beane is following the Cubs model from a few years back. They must see something they like in him. If it works out, flip him at the deadline for good prospects. If not, suck really bad and get the next Kris Bryant.

Beane did the same thing with Scott Kazmir in 2013, albeit after a longer comeback season with Cleveland. It ended up landing him a two year $22MM deal. He wasn't in the MLB for almost all of 2011-2012.

They showed Greinke these and he was on board right away. Nothing to do with the money.

Winter Meetings start tomorrow. Already have Price to the Red Sox, Greinke to the Diamondbacks, Lackey to the Cubs, Spellcheck to the Giants, and Iwakuma to the Dodgers. It should be interesting. It seems like teams wanted to get their SP needs out of the way quick.

Gonna be weird not having Iwakuma as our #2 starter. This has been a weird ass offseason for the M's and their non-rebuilding reconfiguration, and now all they have left to do that I wouldn't expect is to trade Taijuan Walker.

Athletics got Jed Lowrie, whom they traded to Houston last year, back again.

It was funny to see Lowrie in his media quotes, upon realizing he was going back to a last-place team after playing with the super hot up and coming Astros, not even bother to feign any kind of enthusiasm.

Hey Red Sox, you got the piece of our homegrown bullpen which should have been untouchable in Carson Smith. I hope Wade Miley finds success in Safeco, because our relief options just got a lot thinner. We needed a decent starter though, and this is the price to pay.

We absolutey need to be aggressive in the relief market now.

Cubs acquire Zobrist for 4/56; trade Castro to Yankees for Adam Warren and PTBNL. Anybody know anything about Warren? I don't follow the AL very closely.

If players' comparables on Baseball-Reference give some idea who they are, Chris Davis and Boras must be banking on whichever team ends up signing him not looking at his...

1. Jim Gentile
2. Henry Rodriguez
3. Paul Sorrento
4. Glenn Davis
5. Carlos Quentin
6. Tony Conigliaro
7. Nate Colbert
8. Lee Stevens
9. Luke Scott
10. Russell Branyan

Also as a Dodgers fan I'm still apoplectic about letting Greinke walk. I think it was the Piazza trade of many years back that forever soured me on the idea of letting a Hall of Fame talent go and replacing him with two or three good but not elite guys.

I cannot believe the Mariners traded Carson Smith.

Adam Lind? Next season is going to be terrible.
