I'm a big fan of better stats and data in baseball, but in fantasy I actually prefer Wins over Quality Starts. It's fun playing the outside factors of opponent match-ups and drafting starting pitchers in front of solid offenses and bullpens, or relievers for teams with good offenses that have the ability to come back. The reliever could luck into a win or 5. In real baseball, quality starts are of course a much fairer metric towards isolating a starting pitcher's performance. But wins provide more gaming angles, which I believe makes them more interesting in the fantasy context.

Not a strong preference though. I'm fine with either one. Or start an argument with me on it and keep bumping the thread till 2 more people join. That's fine too.

I have an irrational hate for pitcher wins as a stat. I get that it mixes things up. I guess it makes sense if you want things as random as possible. Then again, you're talking to a guy who drafted starting pitchers in the first two rounds last year. Whatever, though. Not a big deal either way.

I think we should open it up to non-PRFers. We need at least ten and hopefully twelve by Sunday.

If any people here are reading and thinking about it, I would encourage you to sign up. This is a super laid back league and it's pretty fun. You don't have to be a baseball expert or anything. I know that last year it was cool to get to know some people here in an environment outside the PRF.

Same. A pitcher cannot win baseball games. All a pitcher can do is pitch well or not.

Yeah, if anyone is on the fence about joining, just do it. I do fantasy baseball as a way to follow players and teams rather than a play-to-win kind of thing.

I've got a friend who says he can commit to this madness if we end up being one or a few away from whatever our goal is by the deadline. Let me know if we need anybody else!

We've got an even number, 10, right now. That's fine with me.

I get this. In real baseball, I have the same disdain for the win. In fantasy it's a totally different story. Fantasy sports are about decision making and finding value where the group isn't. And the win makes the decision making more complicated. It's not about making things random at all. It's about bringing more factors into play. In fantasy wins are poker, quality starts are bridge.

In real baseball, both stats are kind of lame. The quality start is dependent on the 'earned run' which isn't a perfect metric by any means.

(And yes, I'm totally just keeping the ball bouncing)

In Chicago I have that it's tomorrow night, 3/20, at 11pm. So that would sync up with 3/21 at 12am on the east coast.

I can't recall ever starting a draft so late. Perhaps having a kid and having to wake up at 6 for work clouds my judgement. If the consensus agrees with the time, of course proceed.

Earlier time would be appreciated, but I can deal as well.

I'd like an earlier time. If that doesn't work, I can autodraft.

I assumed the Mariners contingent here made that call. I'm fine either way. I was planning on doing the first 10 rounds and then letting the autodraft load my roster with injured, deposed closers.

I had to move all weekend. Making it late Sunday, Seattle time, was pretty much purely selfish.

I can move it to next weekend. If Yahoo lets me.

Gotta say, we had a pretty good showing given how late it was. Also, my outfield sucks just like last year.

I briefly checked my lineup ... you can tell we are in a 10 team league. Sitwell did you draft behind me? I seemed to make out ok even after relying on Yahoos auto draft

I drafted eighth. It seems I always go strong on SP. Already dreaming up trades. Overall, I'd put my team at 4-6, but who knows?
