The Sadies/Northern Passages.

If you know their catalog well enough to know that it sort of divides into "Bloodshot Records" and "Yep Rock Records" periods, this record finally sort of melds those two bands into a single band. It's pretty awesome. The close of "The Elements Song" alone is probably better than most bands will do this year.

I guess it would be a PRF obvious choice but I'm kind of obsessed with the new Oxbow record:

My current favorite record this year is Nordra's s/t.

Bandcamp.

Really good minimal noise/electronic stuff that does well after multiple listens.

A friend just told me about this guy last week... not in love with it yet, but I like the sound.

Should be a shoo in for the PRF, I hope. Used to have a bit more of a Void-y sound with their old (male) vocalist but now have Sinead from Divorce and the record is a bit more of a boogie and a 100% belter.

I've given this a few listens this year.

I don't dislike it, and I'm not sure why I don't.

It's a Howard Jones record. But then why I am still drawn to it?

I think that I mentioned The Rutabega up the thread because they've been on my mind. I've listened to this recent release far and away more often than anything else this year. Sorry, QOTSA.

It is the distilled sound of an Australian living in Berlin in 2017.

Dark and Mysterious Australian Living in Europe To Make Conceptual Art is my most loathed of all aesthetics and I am surprised I don't hate it more.

Right down to the cover. Good Christ.

This is going to age about as well as Father John Misty, but right now I'm into it.

I don't have anything new to add because I'm lame, but +1 for Imelda Marcos, Xetas, and Jason Lowenstein. All fantastic.
