the Ben Frost album is actually beautiful, if yout forget all the hype and sound-designer onanism around it

Uniform - Wake In Fright

Electrical guitar + jackhammer drum machine + snarls = chaotic bliss. Saw them as openers twice and they completely blew away the headlining act each time.

Hidden Rifles is a new band consisting of Matt Wascovich, Mike Watt, Mark Shippy, Jim Sykes, and Norman Westberg. Their debut is called Across The Neighborhoods. It is one of the best things I've heard this year.

Listening to it now, kicks off strong

Why don't you like all the songs?
Even Tarquin likes all the songs
Mary Berry likes all the songs
So why don't you like all the songs?

Nothing Valley by Melkbelly
https://melkbelly.bandcamp.com/album/nothing-valley

Came out yesterday though they've been playing some of these songs for a while. Super fun Chicago band that has elements of Sonic Youth noise, though it's obvious that they probably never actually have ever listened to Sonic Youth. I'm having a hard time putting my finger on the other bizarro, noisy, pop, and psyche elements that are there.

This full length is the first release on Sadie Dupuis' (Speedy Ortiz) label. The LP is a pretty special package. Bright orange vinyl with a fold-out poster inside. They're on tour right now and are tremendous live! I recommend 'em!

I loves me some Melkbellys. I think trainspotting the Breeders in their music is kinda lazy, but that's what I'm doing.

I wrote this on the facebooks--falling for this band hard:

In the early-aughts there was an album titled Awesomer from a Brooklyn-based band called Blood on the Wall. It culled the best hooks and noise from the Pixies, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., etc., and though it wasn't groundbreaking, it was pretty awesome. The Pardoner debut reminds me a lot of the Blood on the Wall debut, just more scuzzy with riskier songwriting. Folks are trainspotting Polvo; I guess I hear it in spots. Catchy-as-fuck tho.

Can’t think of anyone around here that would be into this, but the new Tennis album Yours Conditionally is great.

Future & Young Thug - SUPER SLIMEY

Also the track "Motorsport" by Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, & Migos is pretty great.
