I am thankful that Nonagon decided to tackle that particular tune.

I was always partial to Micky Dolenz, and that was one I would play over and over. I was maybe 12?

What a sentence.

David Gates (the guy from Bread) also produced some early Beefheart recordings. He got that awesome fat bass sound you hear on "Diddy Wah Diddy" on to tape.

He even wrote a song that Beefheart recorded and put out as a single ("Moonchild").

Fuckin' guy from Bread.

There's Telecasters all over that first Monkees lp, hey I'm four years old thinking that's what Gretsch guitars sound like. Hell no...

Best vocalist in the Monkees by a long shot.

I agree, the two versions of "The Girl That I Knew Somewhere" has a Nesmith vocal take and he wrote it, but Mickey's voice is so much better on that track, he's an underrated vocalist from the 60's.

I like all of their voices, and even Peter sounds good on "Long Title."

Absolutely agreed.

Mickey's voice on the tune Etch mentioned/"Randy Scouse Git"/"Sometime In The Morning" is some of my favorite singing on records ever.

It's also interesting that he was one of the guys who did not come into the band as a musician.

He did sing rock and roll with his band Mickey and the One-Nighters and wrote a couple of songs with them.
