Can anyone ID this song?

Postby jonsolomon on Tue Jan 30, 2018 11:32 am

Can anyone ID this song recorded off WPRB by a listener in ~1993?

https://soundcloud.com/comedyminusone/w ... -song-file

Have gone through a ton of AmRep releases from that era, no dice.

From the listener:

"It’s been driving me insane since I found the cassette last September. I am 1000% confident that it was recorded from PRB and somewhere between late September 1992 and April 1994. But most likely it was recorded sometime in 1993.

I don’t know the DJ, unfortunately. The only other detail is that it was recorded on shows that were also playing: Tar, Pitchfork, Craw, Swirlies, Seam, Hurl. A lot of post-rock. Almost definitely would have been a weekday or weeknight DJ and not a weekend DJ.

Don’t give up! The fate of everything hangs in the balance. Thanks much. Apologies that the recording is so bad."

sounds like the demos I did with a 4 track in 1989. Wracking my brain to remember early 90s drum machine bands. It almost sounds live - with the little mistakes and the feedback.

Could it be the Bastards?

I went through the Bastards 45 and LP that I know WPRB has. No dice on either. Alas.

Interesting you would come to that guess separate from others, as they (and Casus Belli) have been suggested a few times...

Ps. This exchange caused me to go through every track on the Crunchouse comp. Came up dry.
