+1 on the chaps. i do not own chaps but they are at the top of my 'don't be a stupid fuck, get yourself some basic safety gear' list.

Leather chaps will do next to nothing against a chainsaw. If you're going to get them, the kevlar ones are the only way to go. They only have one slice in them so don't buy a used pair with any cuts or even nicks in them. My brother bought me a pair maybe 5 years ago and I guess I wear them maybe half the time. Probably a little less but I really should wear them always. I know a guy who saved his leg with a pair of them.

Think mine are some sort of composite. They can barely slow down a horseshoe nail, so I don't pretend to think they'd stop a chainsaw. If I allow myself to really think about how dangerous it is, I'll psyche myself out and won't do it or I'll be in full body armor or something.
I'm gonna go slow and take my time. My son might help me, so I'll need to be very cautious and in no hurry to get it all done. Start by cutting up shit that's already on the ground, maybe shearing off all the tall stumps left by the previous owner, then move on to felling the smallest and easiest trees before getting to the big ones right next to the barns and power lines.

Visaton FR12, after three auratone pair clones I've found these are the right and cheaper cones available. Photos coming soon.
