First thought: if the photo is to scale I could probably get my chopper in there.

Second thought: how do I maintain a stiffy while wanging all 5 on board? GIB AHOY FELLAS

Yesterday, I got a full time lectureship in philosophy at the University of Sydney. This is a life-changing-good-thing event, so I am just delighted.

Congratulations! May your students be engaged and the inevitable committee work not too onerous.

I have one hour and one day before I'm off work until 2018 and it's killing me. I could have taken tomorrow off since I am low on work to do, but I got assigned a day's worth of pointless busywork so I'm stuck. All I want to do is log off and record songs about robot lumberjacks.

I have "officially" become the primary soup maker, as well as pickler of the pub. Not so bad.

Leave town on Friday, to spend Christmas with Ma. It was a light day. We had a lot of cubed salmon leftover from a special event. Made 40 qts of Salmon CHOWDAH.

It will replace the 40qts of curried squash puree with roasted chickpeas i made last Friday, tomorrow. Not a bad way to earn a living.

Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas special is now THIRTY YEARS OLD.

...as is RUN D.M.C.'s "Christmas in Hollis."

I loved both of these things right when they dropped.

Wow, do I feel old.

Just finished wrapping all the gifts I bought for my family. Seems like I got bought more than I'd realized. I'm sipping this terrible rose' that was gifted to me by my manager. It comes in a can and I will absolutely never buy this for myself or anyone else.

But I do hate being wasteful so I'm sitting on the couch finishing it off while I listen to Jon Solomon's 24-hour Holiday Radio Show.

I hope that the day continues to be this uneventful and relaxing. I hope that yours is what you want it to be.

So you're doing it right! (Though the rosé-in-a-can sounds a bit regretful...) Best wishes for a great holiday!

(Here, we're settling down a bit after a morning of getting kids set up with a bunch of new toys, some of which involved my providing family tech support. Which is fine, but strikes me as kind of funny.)

Best holiday wishes to you all!

I was at a dispensary in the Pacific Northwest the other day and asked the kids what dabs and dab rigs were because “I’m 44 and not hip to what the kids are into these days”.

It’s just new lingo for hash and oil and blazing it in a bong with a glass stick heated by a torch. Similar process as knife hits. Turns out I was always down with the kids.
