I'd really like a 100W Marshall Super Bass or Lead, or a Traynor YBA-1A, but I won't be able to get a damn thing until I get more money.

DANG just about a decade ago! I've since gotten a Traynor YBA-1A and I barely ever use it because I love the Bassman 50 so much. Over time I've realized whenever I play something else I try to get it to sound like the Bassman 50, and nothing else quite gets there. The Deluxe Reverb gets used a lot for recording, and the occasional "quiet" gig, where I'm still yelled at for being too loud. I have other oddball combos that get used for recording now (60s Ampeg Jet, Flot-A-Tone combo that somebody chopped into a head), but the Bassman 50 is still king in my world.
That dog won't hunt, monsignor.

But I've gotten these since the last post...honestly can't remember if there are a couple I'm forgetting:

Marshall JTM45 reissue
Marshall JMP 2204
Fender Champ (silverface)
Verellen Meatsmoke (200 watt)

Could honestly stand to move the JTM45 and the V4-B (which needs some work and has sat unused for ~5 years).

I think this is about it. My dad played guitar and had some nice stuff, so a lot of the stuff I played on growing up was his or was on loan from his friend. This is all the stuff I’ve actually owned in rough chronological order. I’m not even going to try to list the cabinets.

Peavey TKO 115
No-name Japanese 1x12 tube amp from the 60s
Boss headphone amp thing
Mesa-Boogie D180
Marshall JCM-900 SL-X
Marshall 3530 Silver Jubilee bass amp

Traynor YGM-3 (Ditched it early on, should have kept it, bought another one 20+ years later)*
Crate Blue Voodoo
Marshall JMP 2204
Sovtek Mig 60
Soldano Avenger*
Fender Bassman (Silverface)
Park 100W*
Modded Bell & Howell Film-o-sound*

Not as many as I thought! The Soldano is the main live beast and the Park is the main recording beast.

Bought a YGM-3 because I missed the one I had originally and I wanted something clean with reverb.

The Film-o-sound is 12 watts of fury. Link Wray in a box.

Peavey TNT50
Ampeg Soundcube (had a broken circuit board, I got it for free and jumpered all the cracked traces)
Acoustic 160 and Acoustic 260 acquired in the same deal
Traynor TS25 and TS50B, acquired simultaneously
Tapco Intersound IVP and Ampzilla power amp
Fender Bassman, bought busted and restored beautifully by Mr Bill at Guitar Works

That was it for personal amps, after that I started buying them by the yard for the studio.

My personal amplification journey:

1. dumb
2. dumber
3. more dumber
4. most dumbest

‘Cause you know, the grass is always greener and the next amp is always better. I’ve bought, sold and traded an arguably “dumb” amount of amps in a valiant attempt to distract myself from actually making music.

1. Crate 10W Bass Amp
2. Crate 20W Guitar Amp
3. Silvertone 1484
4. Peavey Studio Chorus 2x10
5. Sunn Beta Lead
6. ZT Lunchbox
7. Ampeg SS-150
8. DIY half-power Twin
9. Traynor YBA-1
10. Fender Twin
11. G-K 400RB
12. Carr Lincoln
13. Carr Impala

I threw the bass amp off of the bleachers at my old high school (the amp still actually worked, durable little fuckers those Crates are) and blew up the Peavey. Also stupidly sold the Sunn right before they shot up in value. Otherwise I still have hoarded everything.

Out with the old:

Peavey Mace head
Fender Ultra Chorus 2x12 combo
Fender Twin (ultralinear SF)
Ampeg Reverberocket GS12R (blue check)
Fender 75 or 130 4x12 cab

In with the also-old-but-I-kept-it:

Crate GX15 1x8 combo
Peavey Envoy 110 1x10 combo (blue stripe)
Ampeg SS70 2x10 combo
Sunn Sentura II head
Ampeg V4-B head
Kustom Lead III head
Sunn Concert head (silver)
Mesa Mark II-B 1x12 combo (Eminence MS12)
Yamaha 4x12
2x Ampeg V4 4x12 (Eminence EM12's in one)

There are also bass amps.

Should probably thin the hoard this year, even if I do manage to make my bands be active again.

Matchless DC30. My main amp.
Marshall JCM 800 that I got from Jeff Fox who got it from Tall Chris. I use this at practice and at shows in bigger rooms or outdoors. Need to figure out that channel jumping trick folks do with these.
Traynor YBA-1.
Matchless Clubman.
Those last two were my wife's up until she quit her band. I use them here and there.
Reverend Hellhound. My home practice amp. Sounds good!
I'm like, whatever, it's fucking Houlihan

I wasn’t lying my friend. It’s downright embarrassing:

Prior exploits (in no particular order):
•No name solid state practice amp
•70s Silverface Fender Pro Reverb
•70s Silverface Fender Vibro Champ (twice)
•90s Reissue Ampeg Jet Reverb 1x12 combo
•90s Reissue Vibrosonic Reverb 1x15
•’72 Marshall JMP 1987
•’72Marshall JMP 1986
•’83 Marshall JCM 800 2204
•’84 Marshall JCM 800 2204 (#1)
•’84 Marshall JCM 800 2204 (#2)
•60s Silvertone 1482 (three different times)
•Fender Pro Jr (three different times)
•Mesa Subway Blues
•Mesa Blue Angel
•Mesa Maverick
•Airline 1x12 combo (basically the same thing as the Silvertone)
•70s Silverface Fender Bronco
•Carr Mercury (twice)
•Carr Hammerhead MKII
•Carr Rambler
•70s Silverface Fender Deluxe Reverb
•Orange Ad30
•Marshall 1973x 18w 1x12 combo
•Marshall Anniversary 1w JCM1 head
•Marshall Anniversary 1w JCM1 combo (twice)
•Marshall Anniversary 1w JTM1 head
•3 Monkeys Sock Monkey 1x10 12w
•3 Monkeys Sock Monkey 1x12 18w
•/13 btr23

Currently:
•Friedman Dirty Shirley
•Friedman Smallbox
•Custom 3 Monkeys Sock Monkey 1x10 12w
•’76 Marshall JMP 2203

This doesn’t include speaker cabs or bass stuff and I’m sure I’m leaving stuff out.

The amazing part is the overwhelming bulk of it was done while I was working retail sales and or delivery jobs. I still don’t understand how I managed to move so much gear as a broke 20 something.
