finished the 2nd headphone amp for my desk. CMoy Pocket Amplifier, very easy to build, sounds great. went with 470uf caps and will try larger input caps later.

of course an original 41 detent pot would have been nice!

I'm finally putting together a pedal board. For some reason I have been against pedal boards in the past, mostly because the ones my friends have used were just peices of plywood with the pedals stuck in place, so the pedals would always get damaged in transport. Didn't realize you could use a suitcase, because I am a dumbass. We have two old briefcases that will work fine. I was just going to put in the pedals I use on a regular basis, but I want to make as much noise as possible, so I am throwing in every pedal I own except for the direct box I use for banjo and an old broken digitech thing that somehow ended up in my possession that for some reason I haven't thrown away. I'm even throwing in my old DOD FX-69 grunge pedal. Actually has a good sound to it.

I am thinking I will attach the pedals with velcro because we have a lot of that around. There are probably at least ten pedal board threads here, right? I should look at those.

The briefcase thing is my favorite way to tackle the pedal board problem. It makes setup and strike so insanely fast and it looks like you are going to a board meeting. I even put little rubber feet on the bottom side of mine to keep them from sliding around.

I like the rubber feet idea. I am going to steal that.

So, here's what I will have in my rig, not particularly in order:
Boss chromatic tuner, ibanez echo/delay, ehx bassballs, crybaby wah, DOD Grunge, Line 6 delay/looper, zvex fuzz probe, zvex wooly mammoth, some Boss high-pitched fuzz I forget what's called, ibanez tube screamer, ehx big muff, and zvex super hard on. Is it overkill? Maybe it is, I don't give a FUCK.

How do you find the super hard on ? Because I'm really interested and asked myself several times if I should buy one or not. (if you can say with what guitar and amp you use it, it would be very nice Jimmy)

The super hard on is my favorite pedal. Adds a little overdrive and a good bit of volume, and gives a great boost to other effects. I got mine in 2003 and have used it for everything I've done that requires an amp ever since. Including banjo. I have all of my pedals run through it before the amp. For bass: gibson grabber -> lots of bass fuzz efx -> super hard on -> fender bassman (solid state circa 2005). For guitar, current band I am going with Vox Mark VI -> all of my pedals -> super hard on -> fender princeton chorus. I also have gone with an epiphone archtop or cheap telecaster for guitar and twin reverb and sovtek mig 50 for amp, all with good results. I like this pedal.

edit: also used with jaguar baritone and danelectro baritone, both sounded good there too.

Ok. It's a shame it is so expensive but I'll try to get one.

As with any somewhat expensive pedal I'd recommend you try out a model in your local shop to see if you like it before buying, if available.

Yeah, even if it is a small shop, they have really cool stuff sometime. (things like death by audio, moloon, zvex, etc...) So I'll try to see if they got one. Thanks a lot for the advice and the feedback.

If you have even a fairly basic ability to read a circuit diagram and do a little bit of soldering, you can make a super hard on for 30 euros or so.
Don't shun it. Fun it.

I think I don't have it at the moment. But I can learn. I was checking DIY effects that was easy yesterday and thought it would be cool to try to do some.

An SHO would be a good place to start probably as it's so simple.

I'm fabricating a brass pick guard for my Hallmark Custom 60 (Mosrite copy). I'm pretty pleased with how it's turned out so far. I've never really cut, filed or finished metal into a shape before so I was pretty stoked when the guys at Ace Hardware thought I had it laser cut. I also got to work with some pretty cool metal treatment sprays which gave the brass a patina-esque silvery-blue finish. I'll learn to upload a photo if anyone wants to see.

Anyway, I'm also working on a germanium fuzz circuit that I will probably throw inside the control cavity of the same guitar. So far the circuit sounds wonderful, I'm just experimenting with different hFE combinations. I am also pleased to do this because active circuitry is so very uncool.

I'd love to see it. I'd also like to hear more about the metal treatment. I'm doing the same thing with copper on a tele. Someday.

Working on a Overdrive/booster for board member Pepper!

Looking pretty good. I had a spray paint malfunction that was weird. It was in the basement and apparently got a little cold, so when I hit it with another coat, it went all elephant skin. I had to use chemical stripper to get it all off and start over. It looks good now.

I just did the graphics, i kept them simple because if he doesn't like it, i'll need to sell it to someone else, and I figured "Pepperdrive" was vague enough to do just that.

It is a Tube sound fuzz (Volume/Drive) and a simple dirty boost (Boost) that has a switch to make the boost a little dirtier, and a switch to change which circuit is first in order. Very simple. Very functional. I really like it, and hope he does too.

Should be finished tomorrow or the next day.
