Yes I searched and dint find it!

I'm sure someone did this...

First Utterance? There is a new reissue of all of their stuff (not so necessary the second record, though). For those who don't know, they were a really warped (in the good way) english Pysch/Folk band with strange caterwaul vocals with very dark lyrics (i believe they get around to necrophilia at some point).

Yet, there is a genuine serenity in some of their stuff that offers balance.

Spooky. Look at this album cover for gods sake:

"First Utterance" is completely scary-ass folk music played with a level of sheer intensity and precision that you will not believe.

Black/death metal fans encouraged to apply.

Drip! Drip!

So fuckin' N/C.

I discovered 'First Utterance' way back in the early days of the sendspace thread. Great stuff!

Emphatically Not Crap! First Utterance is such a unique album for the time period in which it was released. FYI, the title of the OPETH album; "My Arms, Your Hearse" is taken from a line in a COMUS song.

The vocal effects on 'Song to Comus' are incredible. Is the guy beating his chest as he sings to interupt his voice? It sounds very powerful.

Great cover art, too. Not Crap.

Nope, he just sings like that. It looks pretty physically intense when he does it. Not crap.

'Fucked up' applies nicely. Still strangely soothing though.

No matter how bad that second album is (it's not THAT horrible, sometimes "Get Yourself a Man" creeps into my head), this is still the band that made First Utterance. Few things compare to the first time I listened to "Drip Drip"

not crap.

Comus are a splendiferous NOT CRAP. 'First Utterance' is a really unsetlling and fantastic album. They also crop up (as does their music) in a really depressing groupie flick called 'Permissive' which is well worth checking out.

An ex had a poster from a young pre-fame Bowie gig in '70. Comus opened.
