What a marvelous album. Also, how the fuck did her voice get better?

Agree 100%. Album smokes, and her vocals are stronger than ever.

The lyrics! They're constantly mind-blowing. The lyrical conceits are a lot more straightforward, as opposed to the impressionistic word salad she usually employs, and they make her voice hit harder.

"Skinhead 2" is my current fave. "All Nerve" hurts my head considering how much great songwriting she compresses into two minutes. So stoked to see them in May.

Skinhead is definitely a highlight.

Walking With A Killer - I think I might like the single better, but the Breeders version is still fucking amazing.

Interesting guitar work throughout as well.

Add the Amon Düül II song to the long list of incredible Breeders covers. This whole record is really great.

I've never been a giant fan but I never had anything against them either. Anyway, heard it a few times yesterday in the background of a wood shop.
It's really something. Stopped me in my tracks a few times.

That little couplet in the middle of "All Nerve" is incredible. I can't explain how it does so much.

This sounds weak, I know, but I can't think of a better way of putting this: there is this joyous quality in so many songs off the new record, and so many Breeders song in general.

Not as in "happy" songs, but it's something physical, something in the structure of the sound and the songs, some combination of the Deals' harmonies, the rhythms, and the overall slightly "off" sensibility, that just produces this elation in me.

Maybe I'm just glad to have more Breeders songs.

Super nerdy, but my download showed up before the LP, so I didn't have any lyrics to peruse. Misheard this couplet as "I hit the hall/Oh god, I hate them all", which tied neatly into the narrative of unrequited love and high school. It resonated with me, but was wrong. Totally happy with mishearing it for forever.

makes sense! If you missed any of them, the reissue of Last Splash has a full disc of b-sides and a great show from Stockholm. I was a super fanboy about them, so I had already bought all the imports, singles, etc. from that era, but those songs are great. there's also all those singles Kim put out in 2013? that are awesome. And the Amps record, and the Fate to Fatal ep, and and and...

The Breeders: All Nerve - Record of the Year, 2018.

I'm not going out on a limb here, it's a fully realized egg of an album...

My old friend Nate was so enthusiastic about the new Breeders album that he PM'd me the download code from his LP so I could hear it right away. Then he bought me all five of the Kim Deal 45s that came out a few years back because he wanted me to hear them too. It's all very good music, especially that new LP. I like that the songs are kind shorter--they do their thing, and then move along.

The more I listen to the record, the more spot-fucking-on this description is.

I'm supposed to go on a beach vacation this summer, and listening to this album is getting me pumped as fuck. I feel like this is going to my soundtrack. Oddly enough, two of my least favorite things are unbearable heat and sand, but I love this fucking record, and vacation is going to rule.

Yes, record she is so nice, but sleeve of record she is so not nice. Is like Mark E Smith is to design sleeve for Metallica or some of these things.

It's an abstract art piece, like literally every single Breeders album cover since they began.

Dunno, Kim's entire deal is consistency and clarity.
Kerouacian as fuck.
