I want you all to know I used to make fun of him when I was like 15, 16. I thought he was the worst singer I'd ever heard.

But without any of those notes becoming on-key or any of that rapping getting less sloppy or any of those lyrics changing, he won me over. I've even checked out Cement and his solo album, and I'm firmly in the "Chuck FNM is better than Mike FNM" camp. I've been rooting for him for years now.

Salut, you dopey voiced lunatic and your passion than can not be denied by even me, the biggest cynic you ever faced!

REST IN PEACE
Kerouacian as fuck.

uhm nope, not true.

I'd put it differently, they were a better band with him in it.

No way.

Everyone's tastes are different. It makes the world interesting.

I'm seated firmly in the I do not like Patton-era FNM. It's probably because I got on board the bus when Introduce Yourself was still current. When Real Thing hit, I was like "what the fuck is this cartoon karaoke?"

I just checked and Introduce Yourself still rules. In all its fierce goofy glory.

Mike Bordin with his big flams, I liked his drumming then and I still do. Jim is great, quit after his band turned into Mr Bungle Lite and rightly so. But Chuck really sells it.

I like the lyrics plenty, they go to a lot of places. There was no more "Vinnie you're always hungry man, get away from that fridge NOW" or "fuck you I'll skate to the beach" monologues with Patton. Or indeed any sincere feeling at all.

Now I know why everything turns grey
But it's our own world we paint
And I want the brightest, I want fluorescence
Every day and night, for the rest of my life
Open your eyes won't you?
Can't you see, you're so beautiful to me

One guy's take...

We are essentially talking "Dave"-era Van Halen vs. "Sammy"-era Van Halen.

Take that lift from the Free tune "Mr. Big" that is in the beginning of "We Care A Lot". It's great, but it ain't gonna happen once Mike joins the band.

Although "Midlife Crisis" has a sample from "Cecelia" by Simon & Garfunkel in it.

(I actually had never heard this Free song before. Holy crap!)

Also, Malpractice lifts Dale's opening part from Floyd the Barber .

He sure doesn't look too excited about coming out live from these dudes' tree house. That Youtube channel isn't even about music, it's all about tiny houses. Well, at least the camera guy figured out by the end that it's a good idea to have Chuck in the shot while you're interviewing him.

Sad to hear him talking about his planned musical comeback, his solo album due out in March, and especially about his kids.
