I think she was part of the reason why he had a nervous breakdown and had to leave Germany and the band.

According to the Roxy Music facebook page:

Roxy Music LIVE on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross - TONIGHT @ 10.35pm - BBC 1. Don't miss it!

Someone has added that:
Go onto bbc.co.uk look for iPlayer - though you might have to watch it after the show has finished. IPlayer holds all bbc shows for 7 days after broadcast

Crazy. Is everyone back in the band except for Eno? Please let me know.

Their early glammy, greasy, noisy synth-abetted stuff is good.

Their later sophisticated yuppie, easy-listening, cocaine-and-cocktails rock is not.

Not Crap.

Supposedly many/most of the original band, including Eno, recently played on Ferry's latest album. So a "reunion" is not totally unlikely.

I like pretty much all of their stuff, but the first two are the best by far.

For Your Pleasure in particular is an all-time favorite of mine. Such a spectacular record.

Reiterating my NOT CRAP vote!

Bump! For about a year now, I've been listening to the Roxy Music discography obsessively (as tmidgett said on here years ago, to the exclusion of many other things). I spent a lot of time with For Your Pleasure, Stranded, Avalon, and Country Life in college, but while I loved those records, I never got much deeper (Siren always bored me, ditto the S/T, and I never even considered putting on Manifesto or Flesh + Blood). As it turns out, this is an impossibly deep bunch of records, and anyone with a passing interest owes it to themselves to fully dive in.

It took some personal misfortune and mild tragedy to get me ready for this music, but I got there one way or another.

Finally, I get the near-perfection of Siren. Finally, I get to the end of Country Life without even thinking about skipping something. Finally, Roxy Music makes sense to me throughout, even the parts that aren't supposed to make sense. Even the "bad" records have something to say, and stay interesting if only texturally.

I hope this phase I'm going through continues on for a long time. Not crap.
My name is Mike, and I play music in Stripper Deville.

Watched some live videos of them recently from the Eno era. They were really like no other band before or since. Absolutely unique.

Whoever pegged Bryan Ferry in this thread as a "Eurotrash vampire" was dead fucking on. And yet, at times there is a heart underneath that almost cruel persona. Odd how that works. Great, odd, catchy, witty, extremely European band.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

In the someday, what's that sound.

I've put a lot of time into the Roxy discography over the past year and enjoyed it immensely. What a thoroughly weird band.

I never get tired of 'Love is the Drug'. That's one of those classic radio hits I somehow still love hearing every time. I heard it over the PA before a show earlier this year and when I saw the girl I was with move her hips instinctively to the beat, I knew I was onto something good.

I have some funny connections with this band.

The drummer in my old band's dad manages Bryan Ferry. Apparently Bryan calls his female backing vocalists 'the chubs'. When he retired a pair of shoes, he gave them to my friend. What a character.

Phil Manzanera went to my school (as did Charles Hayward actually). He came back a few months ago to judge 'House Electric', which is a House rock music competition (as bad as that sounds, its actually worse). Come to think of it, the head of percussion at my school is Brian Eno's cousin. Coincidences, eh?

Good band.

In a Roxy Music k-hole for about a year now.

There is nothing here that I would ever want to emulate in my own music (like when I hear a thirty minute Neil Young song part of me thinks, "I'd love to try that some day"), but this is quickly becoming my favorite band. FLESH AND BLOOD kinda sucks, but the rest of them are straight awesome.

The drums on Siren.

"Mother of Pearl"

Nearly all of the lyrics except for those on FLESH AND BLOOD.

The shittiness of much of it. Deliberately shitty at times. I love this shit!

That weird AVALON album.

"MOTHER OF PEARL"

"Do the Strand"

Fucking amazing music.

I’ve discovered I like Eno’s “Here Come The Warm Jets” better than any Roxy Music album. Still NOT CRAP, but just saying.
