Really great. I've been a fan since the 1998 Anyway Records compilation I Stayed Up all Night Listening to Records, which featured a solo Karl rendition of "The Dress You Bought in Cleveland." Still one of the best songs I've ever heard.

Not in any way crap.

That solo track is my favorite arrangement of that song, and reminds me of Karl's occasional solo shows (just him and his Les Paul). "The Men's Room at the Airport" and "Dreams Ha" (linked on the previous page) are on The Adult Section, coming out in a couple months.

Good album!

Probably the best comp. I've ever heard. It flows like a proper album, not just a mismatched collection of tunes. One of my top-20 albums ever.

The new LP just showed up today.

Holy shit, three songs in and this is likely my favorite record of the year. Possibly my favorite KH3 album to date.

A while back, I wrote:Always smart, always delivers great riffs. Karl's not as prolific as he used to be -- just two albums since Declare Your Weapons -- but he keeps getting better at his craft.

This statement remains operative after a full listen to the new album. Too early to say if I'll love it more than The World Says, but I will be surprised and delighted if I hear a better record this year.

The new record, The Adult Section, is rocking my world.

It's a fantastic record, but I wonder if the reason why I'm reacting to it so strongly is that I, too, am in "the adult section" of my life.

I listened to it on repeat today at least five times. I did the chairdance headnod. I might even sing along with it tomorrow.

A rock song, if it is good, may have one very catchy guitar riff that lodges in your head and disturbs strangers before you realize that you are audibly humming that sweet sound in your head. One such riff can make a good song.

Other songs may have an abundance of such riffs. These songs are rare, and to be treasured.

"Running Like a Girl" is one such song. "Hold On, Cool Breeze" is another. They are songs that demand to be played repeatedly. I have complied.

Uh, would anyone like to assist booking a show with some like-minded bands for The Karl Hendricks Trio in Chicago on Saturday, September 29?

Jon

Ps. Is there a different thread I should pose this question in? If so, tell me!

I am not a Chicago dude (as you know), but I think there's a thread for this?
This would probably be a great place for that too.

So very, very, very wish they could play with us in Pittsburgh or Hoboken. Alas, alack.

Loved them from the first time I heard them on WPRB Princeton as a teenager in like 1993/1994 or so. I think they did some live shows on the station then too. Not Crap.

While I'm at it, thanks to WPRB for getting me into independent music back then as a recently relocated high school freshman.

I'll add to the love for The Adult Section -- goddamn what an album, been playing it on repeat for 2 weeks now. It's been a while since I've been that taken with a record.
