Wait, so all we're talking about is this surf record? To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. Snakes or die.

Are there any future recordings coming from Hot Snakes?

JR: We've recorded a new song for this compilation of all San Diego bands that Swami Records is making called Hardcore Matinee.

Fair enough, I guess. One compilation song definitely doesn't excite the way a full album would, but so it goes.

I've learned to not trust Reis' stated future projections for the bands he's in that I love.

"Hot Snakes broke up, we're done forever..."

"This Drive Like Jehu show is a one-time deal, we aren't going to do more shows..."

etc.

I remember the the one-sheet for All Systems! Go III mentioned that ASG! IV was in the works. I even mentioned it in my review. Seven years later...

Seriously, my copy of Automatic sounds terrible, and the label was printed on the run out groove on both sides. I have to jump up immiediately after "Let It Come" finishes or else the needle will jump right onto the label.

I just picked up one of the new pressings of Automatic Midnight (w/ the Swami Records download code sticker) and it is a MASSIVE improvement over the old pressing. Looks like Golden Mastering recut the new lacquers, and the label isn't pressed over the fucking run out grooves any longer.

So, just a better quality version of the old mix?

No changes to the mix, just a better quality lacquer cut and pressing than the 2002 repressing. Based on what J.Burns and I have discussed, it might even be the same lacquer cut as the original SFTRI pressing in '99/'00 since both were cut at John Golden's.

I don't believe I was at this show...I sure do miss the Khyber Pass though...
The show I saw at the Troubadour last time was completely blazing.

Absolutely never by any means or circumstances is this fine outfit crap! My personal favorite of the Reis/Froberg units, Hot Snakes totally nail that Wipers/Burma sound. Plus they're just FUN.
I sing and play bass in a band called Dori.

Jason and Mario are both in the band. They both play on different songs on the new record. Some shows, Jason plays drums, some shows it's Mario, sometimes they tag in and out.

You ever have to cancel a show because the drummer forgot to take off work? Hot Snakes don't have that problem.

Imagine the show where they both "accidentally" get drunk at the same time and/or forget they told the ex that she needed to watch the kids that night though!

Double the pain!!

Yeah you need at least 20 drummers to hedge bets.

So stoked for this new record. And hoping the lack of Chicago date is only temporary.
