funny you mention this. i've never actually heard this group, but last night this guy who was in or involved with Current 93 played downstairs. he goes by the name of Baby Dee and his music is mostly just him and his accordian (or harp). i gotta say, it was just as funny and worthwhile as anything by the Frogs in their prime.

Not Crap!

I remember my good friend turning me on to David Tibet back in college, along with a whole school of other similar-minded artists. Not Crap by a longshot.

Baby Dee is on Durtro, David Tibet's record label. That's my paradigm I guess? Was that the confusion? Sorry, But I've listened to enough Baby Dee to make an informed decision, and I feel that he/she is crap. I respect that you feel otherwise.

I dated an older (first and last older woman I've ever dated) goth girl for awhile who had a big Tattoo on her arm of this band's name.
I asked her what's up with that and she said she used to be in this band.
She gave me a CD and it was really boring. She was too.

I've got quite a few of their (well, C93 is really David Tibet with changing cast of musicians) records.

Definitely not crap.

"Thunder Perfect Mind" is great, as well as the previously mentioned "Dog's Blood Rising" and "Nature Unveiled". Way more records than I could possibly mention.

Definitely not for everyone. It took me a long time to really get into them. Once I did, it was pretty rewarding.

Some Blazing Starre, and Thunder Perfect Mind are good. Tibet's got this medieval thing going on, it seems to work for him.

So does Chip Davis, I'll stick with Mannheim Steamroller.

I'm told that Baby Dee toured with C93 at some point, but is otherwise unrelated.

I saw Baby Dee at the Hideout last Thursday (was there to see Gary Higgins open). Only saw two songs or so -- over-the-top caberet vamping. Her MySpace songs are better.

thunder perfect mind is a great album. some other bits in their ridiculously-sized discography are also pretty good. i always feel like i should be sitting in some reedy marshes when i listen to them. possibly with a heavy case of consumption. not crap.
