Basically, you have the key players involved in Sicario. I thought they constructed an awesome atmosphere with that. Denis Villeneuve is apparently very involved in the editing process and extremely brutal with his own work so I'm hoping they can create the atmosphere and still keep it lean here. I'm praying that Ridley can just leave it up to these guys to run with the ball.

Disappointed with the casting on this and think it's probably going to be another shit unnecessary sequel to a classic film but I can't help getting excited. It's like that excitement part of my mind refuses to listen to reason and is just screaming "BUT IT'S BLADE RUNNER!!"

Also, very happy that Jóhann Jóhannsson is doing the music. I love his work.

Do you see him so often? How? Anyway, I think he's a good actor. His band sucks, though.

I do see him often actually, we have lunch every couple of days where I tell him how much he needs to stop acting, go back to school, and get a real job.

Could you ask him if he lost a bet and wound up having to do that "Joker" thing?

It never made much sense for there to be a sequel to this movie in my opinion. A big part of the fun was the things left open and lack of exposition (I'm pretending the horrible voice-over version never happened). So resolving / answering those questions in a sequel doesn't fit, for me. But you know, if the sequel is a good story, fuggit I'll watch. Better than some horrible remake/re-boot.

Lame. I don't need this in the same week that the patron saint of the drearification of cinema, Christopher Nolan, has a movie out.

A good 50% of that trailer looks like Wing Commander cutscenes.

Petition for Villeneuve to drink hemlock. Roger Deakins has to watch the death throes, learn a lesson, gets a three film probationary period.

If it were possible to gentrify a movie franchise, Blade Runner 2 would be it.

How many people who don't think it looks very promising are gonna go and see it anyways?

Probably a bunch.

Hollywood laughs all of the way to bank.

Rinse, wash, reboot, repeat.

If you wanna go see it, go see it. I can't say it wouldn't be one of the more tempting options at the multiplex if that's where you happen to find yourself.

But man, a person can spend so much time paying attention to things with high visibility that far better more "hidden" stuff gets quickly buried.

There are people who want to establish a new economic order, across the entire globe, and yet their idea of a "subversive" movie is a Seth Rogan vehicle or a superhero blockbuster or some shit. I guess we all have our weak spots.

That's Hollywood for ya, although he does admit that a better actor wouldn't have to do stupid shit like that.

Leto aside, it really sucks that Johansson's score reportedly won't be used in the film at all. No idea if the film or Zimmer's score is any good yet, but it'd be nice if the work Johansson did is released in some form in the future.

The only thing I've seen by Villeneuve was Sicario, which had its moments, but was definitely uneven.

It just sucks that Hollywood is addicted to money: big budgets hoping it leads to big sales. This leads to them betting on sequels. Also, the general movie going public are interested in those terrible super hero movies. I guess we get the movies we deserve, not the ones we need.
