Yeah so I did end up getting a MIM Strat off CL, experimented with different parts, and ended up liking it best with a maple Tele neck on it. Looks bland as hell but plays like silk.

Page used a Strat on For Your Life - all that dive-bomb whammy stuff on that track was a Strat. I think the Hots On For Nowhere solo is a Strat as well.

^ thank god for that

As I understand it, Jimmy Page’s Strat use coincides with his dabbling with heroin. I don’t know if there’s a connection there but he looks rough as hell in that video! I’ve seen it before and tried to look it up but couldn’t remember what it was called.

Actually I think all your practice with spelling biscuit is starting to pay off.

That Knebworth show is kind of a weird one. I think Zeppelin were actually nervous for that show.

Page does not play very well altho it's cool to watch the performance of Achilles to see him pull off all those parts (somewhat).

Funny to see him wear business casual attire onstage instead of his wizard robe style get-ups.

Yeah, I always forget that this era of Zeppelin existed as a live show with those styles that became popular in the '80s.

They were going in this kind of weird fashion direction at the time Bonzo kicked it. Except Bonzo of course.

If Bonzo would have hung around I could imagine the never-made LP after In Through The Out Door having some unsuccessfully awkward 'New Wave' touches, esp. if JPJ would've continued to have a stronger role. It woulda been Strats galore on that shit.

Politely disagree.

His B-Bender playing on that version of "Ten Years Gone" might be as well as the guy ever played.

Been loving my 2 Strats lately, but then again they are both hardtail with a single/splitable bridge pickup.

Gotta politely disagree, too -- and as much as I feel bad for sticking a Danelectro into the Strat thread, this Knebworth version of "Kashmir" is worth the diversion:

He fucks up a lot in that show, but I don’t think any of it is hilariously bad. Or regular bad. Just not as great as you would expect. John Paul Jones cheeses the whole thing up way worse.

Yeah, but his whole approach is marked by fuckups, diversions, and errant fingers along the fretboard, so I'm inclined to forgive, even if he was at a heroin nadir at the time (ALLEGEDLY). Robert Plant, on the other hand, was earning his stripes on those clips.
