Incidentally, for people who like this album - Joan of Arc are now touring with Victor Villareal as a quartet (along with Bobby Burg of Love of Everything/Make Believe and Theo Katsaounis) and are playing Owls songs.

The new record was recorded at Electrical with Steve and was funded largely by fans via a Kickstarter campaign. From live videos uploaded to youtube over the last couple of months, I think it's fair to say that it is far more like the superb Owls record than any JOA record.

Now Im really curious, what the justification was for this being one of the worst albums?

This new four piece Joan of Arc playing Owls songs live -

'What Whorse You Rode Id On'
'Everyone is My Friend'
'Anyone Can Have a Good Time'

New album recorded with Steve at Electrical is called Life Like. It's due in May.

It's JOA playing as a quartet with Victor Villareal, the guitarist from Owls and recording with Steve again. The songs sound similar to the Owls era so I figured it would be interesting for people who can actually stomach Tim Kinsella (a handful of the people on this forum).

So yeah, it will be called Joan of Arc.

Jade Tree is repressing that owls record. I guess so it'll coincide with the new record.

Love the guitar playing on the S/T record. The vocals, as always, take a minute, but I thought overall they added to the music.

Live? They were terrible.

Edit: NOT CRAP.

Really? I liked them live. I also thought the Joan of Arc show here last week was great and awkwardly entertaining. I am a big fan of Theo and his drumming.

I've seen Joan of Arc three times (How Memory Works, The Gap, and Boo Human tours), two of those times they were great, the other show they were pure shit.

I've seen live clips of OWLS that are pretty great. I am willing to venture that I caught them on an off night.

Saw JOA twice in 2009 with Theo and Bobby among others and both were good shows, made me revisit Boo Human and Flowers. Both half good records as per usual with this band.

Never saw Owls but Make Believe were fantastic, if only for Sam Zurick's guitar playing and Nate Kinsella's drumming & wurlitzer trick. I hold out hope of their return one day, their records are terrific.
