Motorhead doesn't have a hot-shit guitarist like Angus, who is brilliant.

Motorhead is truly a dull band who's hype exceeds any of their plodding output.

???

Motorhead has had some pretty good ones. And Fast Eddie's work has definitely had an influence on rock/metal. Angus hasn't done anything different since he was about 16 years old. And why do you think Motorhead is dull ? They play rock very well and sound like themselves. Have you ever seen them live ? And "Hype" ? From who ? From where ? People just saying they like Motorhead doesn't count as hype. A guy walking down the street wearing a Motorhead t-shirt probably isn't hyping them. He just digs them, that's all. If you want to see hype, look at all the fuss surrounding the new AC/DC.

You like Motorhead, fine. Yes, I've seen Motorhead. Dull. People like the idea of Motorhead more than the band.

I prefer AC/DC.

And I like the sound of Orgasmatron more than Black Ice. These people you mention ? I don't know of them.

It's tough to imagine a convincing winning argument in this debate.

AC/DC brought power...Moterhead added speed.

What would have been if Bon Scott lived longer? Would they have ever gained the level of popularity they went on to achieve? Would some people be more tempted to like AC/DC if they hadn't sold 40+ million copies of Back In Black?

As for Motorhead...what would the world be without Ace of Spades or No Sleep 'til Hammersmith? What would the world be like if there were no Lemmy...and how the fuck is he still alive and rocking?

Both are more than the sum of their parts. Motorhead isn't just Lemmy and AC/DC is far more than just Angus. In their heyday, both bands may have been overshadowed by their more visible frontmen.

Gut Check....AC/DC. But there are at least 2 Motorhead songs I like more than any AC/DC song. Damn that was hard.

Selling that many copies of Back in Black doesnt bother me at all.

Selling even half that many copies of Fly on the Wall does a little though.

"Rocker" and "Riff Raff" are as fast as all but the most blistering Motorhead songs (as are "Pumped Up" by Sir Lord Baltimore and any number of other pre-Motorhead examples).

I like Motorhead just fine, but they're no AC/DC.

While Motorhead have the laudable "Ace of Spaces" to their credit, AC/DC's mighty list of achievement (for it is essentially the one achievement over and over again) is headed by "Long Way To The Top" which rules in so many ways it's hard to know where to start. Whether you like it as an emphatic distillation of what guitar rock is, for its succinct and true lyrics ("getting sold second-hand/ That's how it goes, playing in a band"), or purely as one of the great recordings of a rock band, it is a total winner. Lemmy has a cartoonish appeal but as a front man he's not in the same league as Bon Scott (whose legacy I admit is somewhat diminished by the new guy).

It's a mistake to think the pleasure people get from AC/DC's music is any less authentic just because it's so popular. To take the example earlier in this thread of the girl in the bar who hears AC/DC on the jukebox, her enjoyment of their music is no less real to her than your enjoyment of Konono No.1 or Nickelback or whoever you're listening to and loving.

That's because in the 80's he looked about 100. He's like the Crypt-Keeper with a biker-stache.

Keep in mind, we are talking about a guy who's old enough to have been a fucking Hendrix roadie.

Either way...I love Motorhead, but it's gotta be AC/DC, annoying blondes nonwithstanding.

Not like Motorhead doesn't have their share of idiot fans, including indie kid douchebags who go 'metal' at one of their theme parties.

I just saw a pretty recent Motorhead live show on VH1Classic (or whatever it's called). 100% impressive.

I don't know how that drummer does it.

I would buy it if it was available......all HD and all.

It's on Comcast in demand all month, yeah it's pretty good.
They still bring it much more fierce than you'd imagine, and I am pretty sure much more fierce than AC/DC is bringing anything these days.
