Sounds like perhaps he could answer a few of FM orangetree's questions

I see that article is almost 2 years old. He's since come out as a sex addict on Maron's show, maybe even elsewhere.

Dude has a new comedy special on Netflix, called "Standup for Drummers."

Being a drummer and a fan of Fred Armisen, this should be a jolly romp for me, but let me tell you, it is not funny. The best thing I can say about it is, I don't know what it is: Part tutorial, part commiseration, and then some random stuff thrown in. You can feel the politeness of the applause towards the end.

Combining his two life-long pursuits, it should have been awesome. It was mostly awful.

I thought I'd enjoy it despite knowing about his creepy reputation.
But I didn't, it was just kinda boring.

He has the style of someone who wants credit for their obscure t-shirt, low-key name-drop etc. Like "maybe this joke isn't totes funny but give it up cuz I did a sketch about a hardcore band and put all kinds of legit refs in there for those in the know"

It was strange. Really the only part I liked that was memorable for me was the decomposing fox, mainly because I used to do that bit for people (although not as well). It also seemed weirdly-edited. I did get a kick out of them making people do paradiddles on a practice pad before entry.

I liked his special okay. At least the first half or so.

I thought it was mildly amusing until he just started playing different eras of drum kits and people clapped each time.

I would file it under "the joke is entirely in the concept, so it wears thin pretty quickly"

yeah, i watched this yesterday. there were a handful of sort of funny jokes. but the vast majority of it was just not real funny. lots of cuts to famous people in the audience. drum impressions - not real funny at all. being in a band jokes - kind of funny. drum kit history lesson - not sure why that was even in there - barely interesting and not really funny despite trying. but not trying too hard.

not really worth your time. sorry Fred.

Waffles for his Gov. Paterson impersonation though...

Ha, I was there as well. I didn't even make the connection. From memory his schtick was basically pretending to have a severe brain injury, which was evidently funny.

We have a running joke about how the fastest way to clear a room is for the drummer to start talking about his hardware. So if the guitar player is sorting out a technical issue and there is a minute of down time, it's always "hey, why don't you tell the audience a bit about your snare drum?"

Not Crap for his drumming and his general sense of swing (well on exhibit in this song), which was the #1 thing that anchored Trenchmouth to listenability for me. I couldn't muster more than a polite laugh through his Netflix special, even though I went into it with an open mind.

I saw Trenchmouth open up for Dog Faced Hermans at the same venue where he filmed that special. It was a much better performance.
