Brewing my Star Lounge "A Love Supreme" blend right now. Having them a block from my apartment is dangerous I tells ya.

Since opening the coffee shop, I can't think of a single time that I've thought "maybe I should keep an eye on my coffee intake." Occasionally I feel a little bit frazzled by the end of my shift but it's more related to other stress factors than caffeine. I'm around the best coffee in the world all day every day and it's free and I'm pretty much constantly drinking it. Something about the last cup around 3pm when I leave makes me sleepy. I never crave it in the evening, sometimes I'll have a cup if I'm going out.

I drink a pot of espresso every morning, followed by at least two cups at work. Monday through Thursday I'm at a client office where they have terrible coffee. Just god-awful, with no real cream, just those "coffeemate" corn syrup based fake creamers, and I still choke it down. Fridays I'm at my real office where the boss truly cares about quality coffee. It is delicious. I usually up my intake on Firdays even though I don't need it. Which reminds me, time for another cup.

Sounds like we're gonna need a steady supply of coffee for the BBQ.

I'm English and, despite all the stereotypes, I could not agree more!

Plus, fuck all those who make nasty weakass coffee! If the spoon doesn't stand up in the cup, then it's not coffee. If you can see the bottom of the cup through the coffee, then it's not coffee. It's not rocket science, people!

Pretty much. Except that even when you're past the headaches, your brain feels lifeless without it. You miss the fun of your brain's cylinders firing in constant pointless directions.

I was in a deep depression this past fall/winter. During it, I went about 2 weeks straight with no coffee. I pretty much went to work, came home, and shut it down. No-coffee helped.

Now I'm back on it, of course. The sheer number and quality of coffee options in Portland is mind-boggling.

Caffeine is a mo-fo. I wish you the best in dealing with it.

Some people I know bring their own coffee with them on the road. They aren't fucking around.

I can't stand Starbucks' coffee, but I am totally okay with their espresso-based drinks (i.e. Americano). I've been very thankful on several occasions to find a Starbucks on the outskirts of various Crapville, USAs. Thank you, Starbucks.

It is common practice to drink 5-10 cups in the morning. Something I have realized over time being in situations where I had to buy a cup from a chain, and maybe this belongs in another thread, but fuck Tim Hortons

Ben Adrian did this when he stayed at my house on a Replicator tour in 2007.

You're right. I would ease off by replacing it with tea (NOT A POPULAR OPINION HERE!). I use tea in the afternoon, but I ramp up PRETTY hard until about noon or so.

If I'm being honest I would say I have about 4-5 cups from 6AM until noon, then I switch to Yogi brand Egyptian Licorice tea. I drink about 3-4 cups of that an afternoon, while I'm teaching or grading. Another cup before bed.

The 4-5 cups of coffee are CRUCIAL and strong. I've been trying a few different things bout, but that's for another thread.

But, yes, the headaches suck when I don't time it right.

HA!

I was like, dude, I drink a TON of coffee. And my coffee IS NOT bullshit.

Quantity wise, I drink about half a pot in the morning before and during my commute. Drink probably another half a pot to a pot more during the day. Weekends, my wife and I will kill two pots between us easily.

I found a Starbucks off the highway in Western Kansas once. Was never so happy to see a Starbucks.

On long roadtrips I bring an MSR canister stove and a pourover cone as part of my camping setup. It's nice to be able brew up some decent coffee at a rest stop if I need it.
