I'm considering getting a nice espresso machine. One of the best things about going to Europe is being able to drink excellent espresso at 3 or 4 in the afternoon or even post dinner at 10 or 11pm. A full cup of coffee by then will screw up my sleep, but espresso is perfect for that short-term boost and I really miss it.

Does anyone in the Lincoln Square/Albany Park area sell Illy or Lavazza beans? (edit: duh, I'll just ask my g/f to get Lavazza downtown..)

I replaced my dependence on beers with coffee and I couldn't be more happy about it. Learning how to use a french press was a godsend.

I can understand not liking addictive behaviors, though. But I've made peace with it.

This. Morning coffee + cigarette is the highlight of my day. Oddly, whenever I attempt to quit smoking, which is quite often, I have no desire to drink coffee whatsoever. Just feels incomplete.

Yeah, I quit smoking cigarettes about 10 years ago. I only smoke the good good.

What, and burn my junk? No thanks.

I drink about 3-4 cups a day. My GF works at a place that roasts a good bean, but she doesn't drink it, so I get her freebies.
I really hate not having a cup, but have no trouble skipping it if the options are bad or unavailable (foreign travel, really small town).

I was once called a coffee snob, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I really like coffee, so I don't want a shitty cup, just for a cups sake the same way I wouldn't eat stale Wonder Bread if something tasty wasn't around.
I will, however, drink a cup of mud if I have a late night drive or something.

i love the fuck out of coffee. not crap. as of recently though, my consumption has been cut back exponentially. after reading an article on caffeine allergies, i became fully aware of what was happening to my body every time i took down a cup. for those of you who are also caffeine junkies, you might want to look in to the allergy thing too. it isn't something that anybody is born with, it developes from large amounts of caffeine intake.

at least an itchy anus was not one of my symptoms.

Yeah, that's the only thing they're worth the visit for. Often times your shots may come burnt tasting, but if you get it iced you can drink it fast enough without noticing too much. That's my tactic anyway.

Starbucks is my last choice if I'm in a major city, but if I'm in fuck all Wyoming, it's generally better, or at least more predictable, than gas station coffee or even a small town espresso stand.

The proliferation of Starbucks makes it much easier for the caffeine addicted on tour.

Americans are funny. You're all addicted to coffee, we're addicted to tea. Lol.
I'm trying to drink more fruit and herbal tea now, having a lot of caffeine isn't good! :( I bought some Raspberry and Peach tea the other day, it is so refreshing. :)

Well, when they put a Costa in Fresno, California, where I had to recently wasted my weekend, I'll be sure and try it the very next time I'm there. ;)

I am a pussy that drinks green tea every morning.

Black coffee is good every once in a while and goddamn is the smell of fresh coffee (along with basil and supreme weed) among the best smells in the world.

I'm obviously not addicted to it, but drinking coffee is extremely enjoyable when I choose to.

Also, the only time I have ever had fluffy coffees were in Chicago, and that's one of the greatest inventions ever. I don't have a sweet tooth, but goddamn...I could down cup after cup of that deliciousness.

Yesterday I drank absolutely no coffee, and I was a total asswipe at the end of the day and seriously considered drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes.

I guess that is why coffee and cigs are so popular at AA. How are you pooping, by the way?

I usually squat down over a toilet, or a bucket if I'm going rustic, and allow my anus to relax while pushing with my abdominal muscles to eject the feces.

I am with tmidgett on this one. Having no other vices, and barring any medical studies that link coffee intake with catching Bubonic Plague, I am enjoying my coffee, to quote Walter Sobchak.

One of the best things about traveling is discovering espresso roasts in each city/town/village.

After spending the past month working in Jerusalem, I was seriously thrown off of my coffee routine. Espresso was hard to come by before leaving for work at 6 am but I came to aquire a taste for the Turkish style coffee that was plentiful in the Old City.

I usually drink two or three cups a day. It's more than I want to, and mostly is just to compensate for my catastrophic sleep cycle. I'd sooner get that under control and reduce my coffee intake to the rare espresso.

Being addicted to anything is CRAP. You don't own me, coffee!
